NLR Rnd3 - Donington National.
Awesome effort from the team this eventful weekend. The original line up was back in action.
We qualified P29 which was P8 in class. Running a four man team for the 5hr/700km race was the best line up for us doing 35-40 min stints each, well that was the plan.
I had a bit of an off in the first Newcomer 1000 race preceding the endurance race which resulted in the bike being retired for the weekend. On top of that I’d had quite a long concussion, apparently, so that’s me out for two weeks. Also sore everywhere but it could’ve been so much worse. The RST airbag suit, along with all the rest of my kit saved major injuries so there’s a positive in there, somewhere. I can’t thank the trackside marshals and medical staff enough, absolutely awesome treatment and care 🙏 . I then did pit duties along with Elliot for the race.
Weather was good but did cool down towards the end, finished at 8pm as there were enough red flags to push the race to the full 5hrs. Shane did the start for the first time and did really well. From then on it was a case a balancing out rider track time as best we could around the red flags (5 in total).
We finished P21 and P5 in class which puts us in P5 for the championship.
Thanks again to Elliot Eveson for doing pit board, strategy and transponder changes for 5 hours still with a broken wrist.
