The off-season is nearing, and that means ⚡focus⚡on⚡training!⚡
Gains are made in the next 6 months 🦾
However, we still have our League 2 tournament in Caterham next month, and the Invicta AGM (see members group for more details and to sign up!) ⚔️ There'll be Ai***ft 👀🔫

We're very proud and excited to introduce the new Knightmares crest and tabards ❤️💙🖤

The tabards you've already seen us softlaunch at Claregalway Shield and Heritage Shield tournaments - it's the same red, blue and golden ones the Invicta men's team use.

However, the crest is brand new, by our very own Louise M 🔥 Let this demonic horse haunt your dreams just like the Knightmares are your biggest fear in the list ⚔️

(PS: The Knightmares consist of more fighters than just the ones in this pic - this just happened to be the best pic I had of us in the new tabards without mercs 😅)

Introducing the first Knightmare in our new series... 🥁 Sophie!

Sophie works in a museum, so perhaps it's no surprise that medieval combat caught her eye when she first saw Invicta at Loxwood in 2025:

"I thought it was incredible and then I found out there was a women's team and I thought, 'Why not!'. Training with the women is especially amazing as everyone is so supportive of each other and cheer each other on when we do well. It’s a wonderfully supportive team."

Sophie grew especially close to the other members of her Passage of Arms team, to the point where they were roaming around Loxwood together as "The Pack"!

However, when we asked her for her most controversial buhurt opinion, she admitted:

"At first, the softkit was scary. You are less protected and there were times where I got more bruises and injuries from that which was a concern, and made me think I wasn’t cut out for it. I am glad I persevered to try armour and see what protection that offers you."

We're very glad Sophie stuck with it! And she's not stopping at fighting either, she's now a marshal trainee and exploring the secretary side of the sport. As a rowing cox in her spare time, she's already well practised at keeping a team in line! ❤️

Knightmares at HERTIAGE SHIELD 2026.

Knightmares Bruna, Celestine, JD, Kat, and Sophie joined forces with Jenny, Alice, and Steph from White Company to take on BMC and two Hellions teams in 5s and 10s. The level of women's buhurt in the UK remains very high, and we're proud to have earned a silver medal at Heritage Shield this time around. But we're even more proud to look back at this season and announce that Knightmares finished #1 in the UK. Something that seemed very far away even a year ago has become a reality ⭐

Winning feels great, and we're very grateful to have fought with top-level mercs this year (Rachel T, Alice, Ira, Louise H, Morgane, Camille, Mirian, Steph, and Jenny all donned the Knightmares tabard in different tournaments this season!) - but we're even more excited to see our newer fighters go from first ever softkit session to first armoured session to Passage of Arms to BI tournaments in the UK and beyond. It was very meaningful and special to have 3 of our most recent Passage of Arms Knightmares fight with us at this final event of the season - and another 2 Knightmares supporting us on the day. We're really excited to take them all - and hopefully some more of our current softkit-Knightmares - to the list next season!

We want say a big THANK YOU to the UK tournament organisers, national association, and marshalls for continuing to prioritise women's buhurt. Another thank you to Jenny for running excellent national training sessions for both pros and beginners, and the other UK (and visiting) teams continuing to keeping the UK buhurt level so high. Thank you to the men of Invicta for being great training partners when we don't have enough women to train with, and for lending armour to us both at training and at events. You're all part of the reasons the Knightmares have thrived this year.

HERITAGE SHIELD 2026

Invicta fielded four teams for Heritage Shield this year, and we're proud of every one of them.

Invicta 3 consisted primarily of Passage of Arms '26 "graduates", but despite being a team with less experience, they fought with lots of heart every round. Incredible effort despite (or because of) starting the day with two team members found sleeping in a bush instead of getting ready in armour! Being a newer team in a tough group didn't stop you: to quote Rowland, "It's a crazy wake-up call for podium teams when you get so close to beating them!". And we're incredibly proud of Jamie grabbing the Heritage Shield '26 MVP award. Not bad for someone who had their first ever time in armour just 6 months ago!

Invicta 2 - very hard work, and just one round or so off from getting through to semi-finals! It's clear to see that Invicta 2 is brewing with talent, and the spots on Invicta 1 next year will be highly contested. You're putting the captains in a very tough spot by all being more than great. (And also displaying the widest range of fashion sense, from some of the most stunning armour decorations, to some of the most questionable clothing choices... This team truly contains multitudes!) Special shout out to Ally, who earned real hero status by taking on and winning a 2v1 against White Company 2 (who ended up getting bronze)!

Invicta 1. Not just champions of the tournament, but of the entire UK League this year. We got a taste of it at Heritage Shield '25, taking a round off White Company. This year, that feat was repeated again and again, until we could secure the league victory. It wasn't given to us lightly - we had to dig deep and fight well into the night. Not to mention the hours and hours in training and preparation to pull this off. But the hard work has paid off, and we got to lift that plaque high up in the air as UK champions finally! It's not something we'll take for granted, and the work will continue in the off-season, but for now, let's enjoy our new shiny medals!
