Invicta is sending a team to fight at Iron Challenge in Aalborg (Denmark) tomorrow ⚔️

Iron Challenge is a friendly tournament organised by , and this sixth iteration of it has a lineup of teams from Denmark, Norway, and Germany.

The Invicta team has a mix of long time fighters and recent Passage of Arms "graduates" and even one Northern Wolves merc eager to gallop to victory 🏆

Iron Wolves might have had recent success against another English team, but they haven't been tested against Invicta yet 😉

Ben C has received his Invicta belt number! He is #27 ⚔️

Ben joined Invicta in winter 2024 after spending a couple of years in HEMA, eventually deciding that he wanted something with a bit more violence attached to it. Naturally, buhurt was the next step.

Less than a year later, he was competing in Passage of Arms 2025 with the Barnbarians in his first tournament appearance. Originally joining the sport with a focus on duelling, Ben showed his skills by taking the silver in polearm at Passage of Arms 🥈

Somewhere along the way, his priorities seem to have shifted slightly. What started as “I’m mainly here for duelling” grew into “if I do buhurt, I can beat several people simultaneously”. Since then, he’s continued fighting with Invicta at tournaments like Castleton and Leodis.

A quick learner both on and off the field, Ben also gained an important piece of wisdom early in his career after once forgetting to wear a cup before a duel... apparently the kind of mistake you only make once.

We’re very glad he decided HEMA still wasn’t chaotic enough for him - welcome to the stable, Ben!

Alastair has received his Invicta belt number! He is #77 ⚔️

Ally's buhurt roots go way back in the UK scene, with him first getting into the sport in 2013 when there was only a single team in the country: Battle Heritage. Coming from a 14th century reenactment background, he wanted something with a little more intensity... and apparently getting hit with polearms in a muddy field seemed like the logical next step 🪓

He helped found the Wessex chapter of Battle Heritage and went on to compete at the 2015 IMCF World Championships in Malbork, Poland. Back then, the UK scene was tiny and ranks could be filled with anyone willing enough, skill level considered as a secondary concern. Despite that, Ally still came home with silver in the 10v10s. 🥈

After stepping away from the sport in 2015, Ally eventually found himself pulled back in almost a decade later after playing Kingdom Come Deliverance and wanting to show his daughters what he used to do. (And because no one ever truly quits buhurt, they just take very long recovery breaks.)

His return tournament was Loxwood 2024, where he took gold with the Invicta Lancers. Originally he came back intending to focus more on duelling, particularly sword and shield, which he considers the most chivalrous discipline... But the adrenaline and camaraderie of team fights have pulled him back in to enjoying group fights as well. A prime example has been Invicta Unhinged, our chaotic intra-team events with games like zombie infection and quidditch with buhurt rules, which Ally has organised.

And through all of it, one thing has remained constant: he is still wearing the same Battle Heritage gambe from 11 years ago. According to Ally himself, it now smells like p**s. True medieval authenticity 💛

Gareth has received his Invicta belt number! He is #26. ⚔️

Gareth joined Invicta at the start of 2025 with a very important mission: proving that dancers are lethal. And after seeing him earn Most Valuable Fighter at Leodis just last weekend, who are we to argue otherwise?

His first tournament was Loxwood 2025, where he fought with the Barnserkers, throwing himself into the chaos of buhurt. Since then, he’s quickly become known for a fighting style that can best be described as a “full Dexterity build”. While many fighters rely on brute force, Gareth survives through speed, movement, and somehow never being where the enemy expects him to be. Between the sleek black armour, evasive footwork, and almost acrobatic kicks, he’s become one of the slipperiest fighters on the field.

Gareth’s main interests are buhurt and pro-fights, where his mobility and aggression really get to shine. And while most people come into the sport expecting medieval combat to feel heavy and clunky, Gareth somehow manages to make getting hit with an axe look graceful.

We’re very glad he decided to dance into the list with us! 🕺🏻

Blaze has received his Invicta belt number! He is #20. ⚔️

Blake joined Invicta in late 2023 after seeing the team run a demonstration session at his HEMA club, and he’s been hooked ever since. Originally getting into the sport as a way to stay healthy and build confidence, he quickly threw himself into both training and competition.

His first tournament was Loxwood 2024, where he fought with the Barnbarians and helped secure bronze overall. Coming from a HEMA background, Blaze originally thought duelling would be his main focus ... but the more tournaments he’s fought, the more he’s grown to love the chaos and intensity of buhurt too (despite the many complaints about bruises 😂).

Outside the lists, Blaze is also the man behind Invicta’s TikTok page, helping showcase the club and the sport to a wider audience. Alongside the fighting itself, he’s developed a real appreciation for the history, kit, and community that make buhurt what it is.

We’re very glad that one demo session was enough to drag him down this rabbit hole with the rest of us ❤️

THE .ax.ua LONGSWORD COMPETITION ⚔️

At this year’s Passage of Arms at , the winners of the men’s and women’s longsword competitions won’t just earn bragging rights… they’ll each also take home a stunning Mad Ax longsword.

The same swords trusted by fighters like KnightMares captain Bruna, whether training, duelling at Castleton, or fighting her way to a World Championship silver medal in longsword, these blades have earned their reputation year after year. And now, one could become yours, marking the start of your own longsword journey ✨

Bring speed. Bring precision. Bring controlled violence.

Leave with steel.

Huge thanks to Mad Ax for supporting Passage of Arms and helping grow the next generation of fighters. ⚔️

Leodis Cup 2026

Another smash hit by Invicta (no pun intended): we brought 4 teams across the tournament and all podiumed ⚔️

Knightmares took to the list with a French alliance. They smashed the competition to secure their gold medal 🥇against a stacked field of 4 other very strong women's teams!) That makes that 2 for 2 this year 👀

Mens Tier 1: The base level of competition is at an all-time high in the UK right now. But even so, Invicta 1 managed to secure silver 🥈 with some real heart and determination!

Tier 2: Invicta sent two evenly matched teams rather than front-loading one team. This showed the depth of the club with both teams finishing on the podium 🥇🥉 after many exciting fights, including three tough rounds in the Invicta v Invicta fight 🐎

Everyone fought well but three performances stood out and earned special recognition: Steve, Gareth, and our Knightmares merc Louise all won the Most Valuable Fighter awards ⭐⭐⭐

Many thanks for all the support we received, from squiring to captains support to taking photos and videos! And shout-out to our guys attending as marshalls as well 💛

Lastly, thank you Leodis cup organisers , Buhurt International .international , and marshalls for a great event! We hope to return next year 🦉
