It wasn’t to be today for the Firsts as they bow out of the Irish Cup following a narrow defeat to Distillery.

The lads certainly had their chances and took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from Jack who continues his good start to the season. We carried this lead into the break and had a few chances to add to it in the second half but just couldn’t double our lead to create a gap and unfortunately Distillery made us pay as they applied more pressure as the second half went on.

Two goals in the last 15 minutes saw the visitors grab the victory and progress to the 3rd round. A tough one for the boys to take as the game was definitely there for the taking but a very positive performance after the disappointment of last weeks league defeat.

Back to league action next Saturday as we welcome Suffolk to Corrigan Park before a home game against Portavogie in the league on 26th sees out September.

Great support out the road today so thanks for everyone who came along to cheer the lads on. And all the best to Distillery for the rest of the campaign.

Another busy weekend on the youth front with over 20 teams playing across tonight, Saturday and Sunday in both the Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League & Downpatrick Youth football league.

It all starts tonight with four teams in action including a local derby for our 2011s down at the Newcastle 3G pitch, and a first game of the season for our U18 team as they travel to Carryduff to take on Glendowan.

What a week of youth football! ⚽ Our young sides were in action across five age groups from the 2013s to the 2019s, with wins for the 2013 Forest in a cracking local derby against Newcastle, the 2016 Forest against Banbridge Panthers, and the 2017 Town away at Warrenpoint — where Ollie marked his club debut with a Star of the Match performance in goals. Jamie's screamer for the 2013 Town and goals from Oisin, Lewis, Lochlainn, Noah, Cillian and more had plenty for the sidelines to cheer. 🟢⚫️

Just as pleasing was the spirit right across the club — six new lads made their debuts, our youngest teams showed brilliant character and teamwork on some tough days, and coaches everywhere praised the discipline and fight of every single player. A huge game on Saturday and arguably the biggest in the clubs history, and certainly in our short intermediate history as we welcome 12 time Irish Cup winners Lisburn Distillery to Corrigan Park for a mouthwatering Irish Cup 2nd round tie.

The game will no doubt present a huge test for the team and will be a free hit against Conference Premier opponents who will come in as favourites.

With numbers at youth level continuing to increase in the club, we're looking for coaches to come on board and help our two youngest age groups - the 2019 and 2020 boys teams.

The two groups are participating in the Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League for the 2026/27 campaign.

Our U18 training begins tomorrow night from 7pm - 8pm out the Bann Road, alongside our senior team. With the management confirmed for the new season, it all begins this Friday night with our first league game of the new campaign in the Lisburn Castlereagh Junior League.

New faces and returning players welcome tomorrow night. Get along and get yourself in the squad for Fridays opener against Glendowan.

If you’re unable to make tomorrow night (or your child is unable to make training), but you’re interested in playing this year, please PM us to get added to the squad.

This weekend alone we had 5 players from last years U18 squad involved across our 2 senior teams, including 3 of the current U18 setup with our reserve team. A clear pathway to senior football with plenty of opportunity provided for local players.

While our first team fired their first blank of the league campaign on Saturday, the reserves brought their shooting boots to Dunleath Park and were in ruthless form against Rossglass County, especially in a dominant first half performance.

Here's all the goals from Saturday's 9-0 win to start the league campaign. Brogan grabbed the headlines once more on his first start in senior football as he grabbed a hat trick, while Mosey and Joe both chipped in with two apiece. An own goal and a penalty from Fitzy completed the scoring.

A bad day at the office for the firsts as we go down to a 1-0 home defeat against Portaferry. A first half goal for the visitors gave them something to hang on to and that’s what they did, although it proved to be one of those days for our lads in what turned into a frustrating afternoon.

Dust ourselves off and back at it next Saturday when we welcome Distillery in the 2nd round of the Irish Cup.

A great start to the season for our seconds who were in rampant form in front of goal in the first half with Mosey and son Brogan both grabbing a first half double. Joe O’Neill also chipped in with a double while an early own goal meant it was 7 at the break.

The boys eased off a bit in the second half although still creating plenty of chances with Brogan completing his hat trick before Fitzy wrapped things up with a penalty near the end of the game. Tougher tasks will lie ahead but good to get started with a win and a clean sheet.
