Jake Doherty claimed his first podium of the 2026 season in the Raceparts 750 Formula Championship at Silverstone.

The 25-year-old, who finished third in the championship in 2024, finished third in race one of the weekend which was his tenth career podium. He piloted the SS, a vehicle which was first raced by his grandfather, Bob Simpson, in 1991.

Race 2👎
If I haven't got enough problems with top gear as it is 🙄 Lap 1 into brooklands change down to 3rd and all I get back is a box of neutrals straight on and all the way back down to P12 and with no 3rd gear which you mainly use at Silverstone the race was going to be hard but in the end managed to salvage a P6 which could be important come the end of the year.
Now a full gearbox rebuild starts hopefully this time when its redone we find the cause of top gear jumping out because we cannot be competitive with the way it is anymore loosing so much time in the high speed corners is just killing the lap time and even though the new engine is down on power compared to last years we managed to go quicker than last years fastest lap. it's demoralising but we carry on and it will be worth it when it's fixed and can really show some speed,Cadwell next I go well there so if the car plays ball we will fight at the front again.

Round 2 Silverstone National.
A strong field of 26 cars is expected,so it's going to be a tight weekend and where putting it all together in qualifying will be crucial to be able to try and stay with the front few this time.As Silverstone is a bit better track for myself compared to donington and hoping to fully focus on driving instead of problems will lead to maximizing whatever result is possible over the weekend.
Also a first as we have both myself and Harry out racing at the same weekend for the first time.

Donington race report where do I even start what a stop start weekend but two finishes where easily could have been season over before starting.

Qualifying after a couple of laps warming everything up which for the first qualifying of the season some drivers wanted a race which was questionable and as soon as I got some space for a first push lap the recurring problem of last year was still there top gear just doesn't like to be a gear so back to one handed driving again and then red flag.5 minute restart with 21 cars left meant try and get the best out of it and ended up even with a blocked lap with two class P5's.

Race 1 lining up behind the usually quick starting clubmans I pointed the car towards him to follow him into the first corner but the lights went out he didn't move! Then row Infront pole position hasn't moved as well leaving one row gap between the cars to fit through somehow managing it then the SC boards came out at Schwantz curve which half the field decided not to see ending up in multiple dqs.after the restart managed to keep P5 staying with the fight for P3 and then sc again this time the restart would leave one lap left until P3 lost the car coming out of the chicane 3 cars behind just missed him but unsighted the 4th didn't resulted in more than likely 2 scraped cars a bit of hit to the system but luckily finishing P4.
(See start below)

Race 2 a normal start this time holding p5 just loosing to much time down the craners and old hairpin because of the top gear issues meant we couldn't challenge the top 3 but keeping P4 in sight and when P3 spun and in the gravel the SC came out again meant there was a podium shot on but only for P3 as we had a back marker in-between us and the front 2 left us two to far back and I only got one chance at the restart but just couldn't quite get Infront and try and hold on for the podium in the end settling for another P4.

At the start of the weekend if you had said two P4 finishes and P2 in the championship I would off taken it being a poor track for me but the actual results were abit different I didn't quite have the pace we was hoping for but onto Silverstone for round 2 a better circuit for me and the car and a few weeks of hard work figuring a plan for the gearbox we hope to fight on pure pace at the front this time.
