From the hospital bed to the podium!🏥🏆
Cadwell turned into one hell of a rollercoaster of a weekend.

Friday testing went well a few little issues here and there but the gearbox worked and even not driving 100% I managed to get into the 1.39s so the pace was looking good heading into qualifying.

Qualifying was pretty hopeless really because after 2 laps a car had dropped oil all through hall bends and round the hairpin and every lap I caught slow cars going through there until my last lap when they put the flag out early so two P4 starts it was for the races.

And what was supposed to be my 50th race didn't go to plan.
I got a good start into P2 off the line as the pole man got a bad start so settled into the middle of the track as i had another car fully along side me on the outside as I had now almost my whole car Infront of the car on my inside I would have expected him to start to back out as was never going to get 3 cars into that corner but I didn't make the corner as I was spun round into the barrier which unfortunately was just barrier and banking no protection at 80mph as I bounced back onto the track with 3/4 of the grid coming towards me luckily no one collected me afterwards but the car and myself was not in the best of condition afterwards with myself in the medical room with in the end alot of bruised parts but that's when the rebuild started.

Race 2 once we got the car back to the paddock Saturday evening we started to assess the damage and the list was just getting longer and longer as we went on,panhard chassis mount snapped,axle arms bent,gearbox case broken,2 rims,rhs floor all broken and bodywork and rear wing damage.but straight away the amount of help everyone offered with anyway they could was commendable but the real thanks go to Nick Windley Mark windley nige Cowley for all the help and parts given to get the car back straight and Stuart Sellars for all the welding that the car needed and everyone else who lent us tools and parts.

So we made the grid for race 2 I dropped to P5 off the line but after a retirement Infront was running comfortable P4 chasing P3 with a car that was very wounded running over 2 seconds of the pace we could easily achieve each lap it was more about getting the car to the finish but then a long red flag stoppage meant the car overheated on the Grid waiting to restart meant once we did get going the car was down on power while waiting for the temperature to go down off the start dropped to P6 and with only few laps left meant I had some overtaking to do but managed to get back upto P4 by the last lap when bill Infront was slowing down but while caught him coming into the mountain there's no where to go until the run to the line where we managed to just pip him by 2 hundredths of a second to finish P3 and complete a unlikely turn around from where we ended race 1.

So a very up and down weekend and a lot of bruises and uncomfortable nights sleep to come for me and then set about sorting the alignment of the car and all the cosmetic damage before snetterton at the end of August.

Jake Doherty claimed his first podium of the 2026 season in the Raceparts 750 Formula Championship at Silverstone.

The 25-year-old, who finished third in the championship in 2024, finished third in race one of the weekend which was his tenth career podium. He piloted the SS, a vehicle which was first raced by his grandfather, Bob Simpson, in 1991.

If I haven't got enough problems with top gear as it is 🙄 Lap 1 into brooklands change down to 3rd and all I get back is a box of neutrals straight on and all the way back down to P12 and with no 3rd gear which you mainly use at Silverstone the race was going to be hard but in the end managed to salvage a P6 which could be important come the end of the year.
Now a full gearbox rebuild starts hopefully this time when its redone we find the cause of top gear jumping out because we cannot be competitive with the way it is anymore loosing so much time in the high speed corners is just killing the lap time and even though the new engine is down on power compared to last years we managed to go quicker than last years fastest lap. it's demoralising but we carry on and it will be worth it when it's fixed and can really show some speed,Cadwell next I go well there so if the car plays ball we will fight at the front again.
