Marin British Sidecar Championship Rd5 Anglesey – Race Report 🏁

A challenging weekend in Wales in wet conditions making for a difficult round for all teams. After 16 years away from the circuit for (driver) Phil we qualified 9th, so the lads had plenty of work to do to find some pace.

We had two strong races finishing 6th in both races, but Race 2 was a really positive step forward. After making some quick setup changes between races we found some pace and were able to have a good race with Team Biggs despite not being able to get a pass on the last lap.

Plenty of positives to take away from the weekend and despite not being able to run our new suspension our the lap times were on par with some of best teams in sidecar racing.

We also came away with a Cup win and a 2nd place adding more valuable points to our championship campaign with a 76 point lead with 100 remaining.

We sit 4th overall in the British Championship, with everything still to play for as we head into the remaining rounds.

A massive thank you to all our sponsors, supporters and everyone behind Bell Racing for the continued support.

A special mention this weekend to Add Anderson for his contributions all season in helping us with fuel funds each round, its really appreciated.

Cadwell Park – Marin British Sidecar Championship Round 4 Review 🏁

Cadwell proved to be another challenging but rewarding weekend for the team.

After a difficult Free Practice session, where we were plagued by an intermittent quick-shifter fault, we managed to qualify 7th overall and 3rd in the Cup class, leaving plenty of work to do ahead of Race 1.

Race 1 saw Phil and Phil make a fantastic start, climbing to 5th place before eventually bringing the outfit home in 4th overall and 1st in the Cup class. It turned into a fairly lonely race, and although we struggled for pace in certain sections of the circuit, we were pleased to secure another strong result.

Following the race, on inspection of the bike we had several mechanical issues that needed attention. Thankfully, CES Performance were on hand with the parts and support we needed to get us back on track for Race 2.

Starting 6th on the grid for Race 2, we quickly moved into 5th before a brief Safety Car period bunched the field back together. After the restart, we found ourselves battling with Team Biggs and Team ARC, both of whom were nursing mechanical issues. Cadwell's tight and technical layout made overtaking incredibly difficult, but we eventually fought our way into 4th place.

The closing laps produced a fantastic battle with the RAF Team of Rob Atkinson and our former passenger, Shane Colbrook. We threw everything at the race, securing another 4th overall and 1st in the Cup class.

Leaving Cadwell, we now sit 4th overall in the British Sidecar Championship and have extended our lead in the Cup Championship to 55 points.

Our focus now turns to Anglesey in five weeks' time, where we're hoping to have a major upgrade fitted to improve front-end grip and help us close the gap to the front.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, supporters, families and everyone who continues to help keep Bell Racing on the grid. We couldn't do it without you, and we're looking forward to seeing what we can achieve at Anglesey!

Snetterton - Marin British Championship Rd3 Review

After our last minute decision to compete at Snetterton our skeleton crew of Phil, Phil and Mick arrived early on Friday morning just in time free practice. Big thanks to Charlie, Andy and team for the pit set up before we arrived πŸ‘Œ

Unfortunately the same handling difficulties and understeer that plagued us at Knockhill would continue here.

Qualifying 5th, we were relatively happy knowing that there was plenty more to come.

Race 1 started with a few changes so built confidence in the opening laps which led to a lonely race as we finished in 4th place winning the Cup Class.

With more changes in Race 2 the lads got a cracking start moving into 2nd off the line and spent a couple of laps battling with Team Biggs despite a developing quickshifter issue . The rest of the race was spent in a great battle with Team Holden at the front of the Cup Class which made for cracking TV coverage as again we finished in 4th despite our continuing quickshifter misfire.

We have extended our lead in the Cup Class and sit 5th overall with Cadwell in 3 weeks

Big thanks to our continuing support from our team of sponsor's.

After a bit of juggling with diaries and schedules, we're now heading to Snetterton this weekend for the next round of the British Sidecar Championship.

We currently lead the Cup Championship after taking 4 wins from the opening 5 races, and we sit 5th overall in the main championship standings.

A huge thank you goes to all of our sponsors and supporters who have helped us this year. Your support makes it possible for us to be on the grid and competing at this level.

We're looking forward to another great weekend of racing and seeing what we can achieve at Snetterton.

Knockhill – Marin British Sidecar Championship Round 2

The weekend started in typical Knockhill fashion, with plenty of rain for Free Practice and Qualifying. We experienced a minor steering issue during qualifying which held us back slightly, but with the weather forecast improving for the races, qualifying position wasn't too much of a concern. We qualified 7th, later moving up to 6th following Team Williams' unfortunate withdrawal.

Saturday's race saw Phil and Phil bring the Bell Racing Yamaha outfit home in 5th place overall and 1st in the Cup Class after a race-long battle with Team ARC and their flying F2 machine. Both Phil's were determined not to give an inch, and after an entertaining scrap we managed to stay ahead. Despite the result, we were still trying to resolve our understeer issues and knew there was more performance to find.

By Sunday, the atmosphere around Knockhill was building, with a packed crowd attending the British Superbike event. Race 2 started at 11:30am and there are few better opportunities for sidecars to put on a show in front of such a packed circuit.

Following some setup changes, the outfit felt much improved during the sighting laps. We were able to stay with Team Biggs in the early stages, running in 5th place, but despite our improvements we couldn't quite match the pace of the leading four crews. A race stoppage following an accident involving Team Birchall resulted in us being classified 4th overall and once again 1st in the Cup Class.

Overall, Phil and Phil leave Knockhill very happy with the results, but as always trying to find more performance. Further setup development is planned, with an engine change still a possibility as we continue to try and push forward.

A massive thank you to everyone supporting Bell Racing this season. After a difficult start to the year, it was fantastic to have some of our supporters with us at our local circuit as well.

We would like to wish Ben and Mark a speedy recovery and hope to see them back at the circuit soon.
