Hello all,

As I am sure you are all aware and have indeed updated your diaries, Golf courses re-open on the 29th of March, so that is great news to us all, another step back to normality... as you can probably appreciate, the RAFGA have been working hard to arrange/rearrange golf competitions for the upcoming season, the following is the message we received today with updated dates-:

There has been a lot of work going on behind the scenes to try to firm up the RAF GA Competitions list for 2021.

So far we can confirm the following:

Pairs : Enville GC 22 Jun 21, Rotherham GC 26 Jul 21, John O'Gaunt GC 10 Aug 21

Inter Station Championships : Newark GC 01 - 02 Sept 21

Regionals : Central 1 Lincoln GC 23 Sept 21, South East Calcot GC 27 Sept 21, South West Worcester GC 30 Sept 21, North Elgin GC 6 Oct, Central 2 Belton Park GC 8 Oct 21

Please note we are still working on the Strokeplay, Matchplay and RAF 'B' Championships and will provide an update as soon as available.

Ladies and Gents,

Most of you will have had an email the other day regarding this years golf fixtures.
I have edited it slightly and pasted it to this page so you have an area to look at the dates quickly whenever needed. Although as we know it could all change with the way the world is at the moment but the events are being planned/arranged as if we WILL be able to play them, so at least it is some light to look forward to for now...

Hope you are all keeping well and look forward to seeing you out on the course as soon as ‘safely’ possible 👍🏻

Below is the planned series of RAFGA events for 2021. Whilst it is hoped that all events will run as scheduled, when golf courses re-open, there may be restrictions on access for visitors and societies. Therefore, there may be a requirement to re-arrange some events; we will of course keep you updated. Please note, due to demand, an extra Central Regional Event has been added. Entry will be via Love Admin and you will be emailed when entry for each event opens.

Finally, as there was no activity in 2020, the Trustees have agreed to utilise unused funds and reduce entry costs for 2021 by a minimum of £10 per event.

Latest News received today, as ‘Normal Golf’ has almost fully resumed now, competition golf should just be around the corner 🤞🏻... but for now, the following is the latest email from
RAFGA (for those who haven’t seen it)

Due to the uncertainty of when the Directorate of RAF Sport (DRS) will allow associations to recommence on-duty activity and what level that activity will be, a decision has been made to cancel the 3 remaining RAFGA events schedules for 2020, namely the 29 Jul Pairs at Enville, 17 Aug Pairs at Newark and 2/3 Sep Inter Stations at Coxmoor. When we are advised by the DRS that association activity can recommence, the RAFGA will assess the ability to reschedule any of the 2020 cancelled events later in the year. The RAFGA will continue to seek updates on the recommencement of Station activity in order to enable OICs to discuss options with their Duty Holder and provide updates once received.

Latest News

Following the revised advice issued by the various home nation governing bodies on playing golf, the RAFGA has engaged with the RAF Directorate of Sport regarding the possibility of a phased return to approved golf in the RAF (including unit level activity) subject to the adherence of all guidelines and Duty Holder approval (ie stn cdr for unit golf). The issue will be discussed with the appropriate RAF authorities and at a UK Armed Forces Sports Board meeting on 4 Jun. Hopefully after which we"ll be able to provide you with an update.

RAF GA COMPETITION UPDATE



A decision on the postponement/cancellation of the Stroke Play Championships at Formby on 9-11 Jun 20 has been delayed until the beginning of May, by which time it is hoped the RAF GA will receive an update on when RAF sport will be able to recommence.
