On Wednesday night we celebrated the clubโs history by playing a match on our home pitch for the very last time. The 2018/19 League and Cup double winning team, against some familiar faces who have represented the club over the years.
Unfortunately this year the club found it more difficult than other years to field a team and therefore decided it was best to call it a day as one of the final junior sides in Carrickfergus still going.
Founded in 2006, Woodlands OB as we were formally known, were founded out of a few men from Woodlands Church who sought to create a team and play regular competitive games on Saturday afternoons. Since then the club grew from strength to strength, now called Woodlands FC and most notably winning the Ballymena & Provincial League title in 2018/19 and clinching the Canada Trophy in the same season.
Since the very first game, one man has played every single season spanning a 17 year playing career with the club.
Paul Addis ๐๐ป
As a club we felt it was right to award Paul with a signed shirt from the 2018/19 Double winning side. A small token of thanks for his commitment to the club both on and off the pitch.
Also, we said thank you to Jason Hughes, the gaffer. Jason managed Woodlands fervently over the years, standing on every touchline in the country in rain, hail or shine. Never missed a training session, never missed a match. Again, a token of our thanks was to present a signed shirt to Jason also.

None of this wouldโve been possible throughout the years without the commitment of the likes of Paul or Jason, special mentions also to Chris Po***ck, Ross Oliver, John McKeown & Colin Rea who also came down to play and manage one last time.
To the clubs sponsors over the years, Victoria Cleaners and Big Wet Fish. Thank you. Never once was it any hassle for either business to support the club financially.
Finally, all players who played and represented Woodlands over the years, thank you. A pleasure to wear those yellow and blue stripes!
The End. ๐๐
