Every person in the gym has a story, every person is on their own journey.
Take this barbell total weight of 30kg… this barbell represents more than just a set of squats… today for one of our members it represented just how far she had come, just how hard she has worked to improve her health and take good care of herself.
I saw her just looking at the bar, I approached her and asked ‘You all good?’ ‘Yes’ she said; ‘I’m just having a moment and realising that that bar is how much weight I’ve lost!’
She had a moment of realising just how far she had come and just how much she has progressed, how much better and easier life has been since she hadn’t been living with that additional weight.
The whole gym took a moment to celebrate with her . What an achievement, not just the weight but the healthy changes for her healthspan.
Everyone in the gym has a story, everyone on their own journey , not everyone is there to lose weight, everyone has to here own reason. But regardless of that reason it’s amazing to see how much support everyone gives eachother .
(This ladies journey began before she joined us , this isn’t about our gym it’s about this fabulous lady)

Strength training is for everyone, regardless of age, every single person can benefit from some kind of strength training. This is me a 46 year old woman training with my youngest 22 year old daughter. I’m training so that I can feel fit and strong, to improve my longterm health and also because I want to look and feel good. Hopefully I’ll be as independent as possible for as long as possible. I’ll get to enjoy my life and my girls get to enjoy theirs without having to look after a frail mum.
Our members range from people in their twenties to folks in their eighties . From people that are training hard and lifting some big heavy weights to people rehabbing injuries and others who are working on the absolute movement basics. Regardless of age or ability everyone is there working on their longterm health and wellbeing & hopefully they are having a bit of fun while they’re doing it. STOP ASSUMING YOU CANT AND START BELIEVING YOU CAN 💗

With longer & brighter days often comes a desire to move more, a lift in energy and it’s a great time to start to build to some good habits. Not for a ‘Summer Body’ not as a short term fix; but for longterm, healthy and sustainable benefits, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to change the body composition at all, but for many it rarely leads to long term, sustainable results . What often works best is making little changes that you can sustain.
Ate you someone who looks for quick, short term fixes or do you prefer being in it for the longterm?

Stop putting yourself down and stop putting others people on pedestals.
Acknowledge and accept that sometimes things are hard and just do your best , even if some days that’s simply turning up. No one is motivated 100% of the time

New skill unlocked for client Lorraine. Going unassisted , not using her upper body to get from sit to stand and back down to sit again.
It’s been years since Lorraine had been able to do this. Lorraine has MS and she is a legend, it is a privilege to get to work with her. She’s been working on finding that sweet spot between effort and ease. Helping the brain make connections to areas of the body that haven’t moved like that for years. She is determined, consistent and awesome. Lorraine has been building to this moment with lots of focused exercise but we were both surprised and totally delighted when she just put it all together and stood up.
I hope this video gives you a little inspiration and some gentle encouragement to just keep showing up , to just keep doing what you can. Remember guys it’s all those small things that add to mighty things
Wee shout out for this awesome piece of kit, the Strengtherg from we’ve used this a lot in Lorraine’s rehab, the machine has reduced the need to always transfer from machine to machine and it’s crazy how much we’ve been able to do with just this piece of kit

Would you expect to see this type of advertising for men? I’m guessing you wouldn’t, it would probably feel weird, So, as we come to the end of 2025, in a time when women are meant to stronger, taken more seriously why is this type of advertising still used to sell to us? Should we be buying into something because it’s made us feel insecure and unconfident. Girls, women your health and wellbeing is about so much more than the weight on the scale, it’s a combination of many factors. Lets start by asking ourselves what we want and noticing why we want it. Let’s focusing on getting healthier and stronger for ourselves, not because we are solely worried about what we look like on a night out . Health and wellness is longterm , and when we do it right it’s sustainable, it’s not a quick 8 week shred.

Stress can impact so many aspects of our overall wellness, mental, emotional and physical.
As life gets busier those stress levels can really increase and we need to take a moment to check in and to notice how we are doing and what we might need to change or take action on.
A busy world can leave us feeling frantic, always busy, we forget how good it is to just be in intentional stillness, our brains are so used to being over stimulated that we can’t even sit in a car, on the toilet or be in a queue without reaching for our phones .
Is that you?
What steps could you take to allow yourself to find a little more calm and stillness in your day. (Remember when we talk about stillness it’s not just the physical body it’s the mind .. so it could be a good walk so the body gets to love but the brain gets to relax . This is a huge huge topic with so much we could talk about . If you need any support or tips please reach out .

Our role as coaches is to coach you as an individual, to amend and adapt the sessions to suit you. Whether that is our coaching style or in your programming.
It’s a real two way street and it needs you to be involved and invested too. We can’t do it for you… we can support but it needs you to be invested to work. To show up for yourself.
Self care and taking care of your wellbeing is challenging, it’s even uncomfortable. But it’s a good kind of stress, it’s needed and it helps us build resilience and confidence outside of the gym space.
To help us support you always tell us how you’re feeling , let us know what support you need. Be ready to give your very best on the day to your session (and be ok with that changing day to day) when it gets a little tough, whether that’s turning up or lifting be ok with that, challenge is healthy, controlled stress is good and your body & mind will thrive. We will never ask you do anything that’s harmful or encourage you to lift a weight that’s beyond your ability. Some days will feel amazing , others really tough and you know, that’s ok. That’s life

How did you sleep?
How do you know how well you slept?
Have you any bedtime routines in place to support good sleep?
Quality of sleep does matter, but it’s important that we don’t rely on gadgets to tell us how we have slept.
Personally I have a set bed time, I stay off my phone, I read for a little while and breathwork hugely helps.
If you’d like a little support with sleep please reach out .
