Over the last year I have been working with as a facilitator. I have been facilitating with the Citizens Assembly, Access and Dis-ability working group and over the last three months I have been co-facilitating our COMPOSTÏO work. This work has been groundbreaking and transformative as we explore this central question: ‘How can the oldest town in wales model a radical future, (for everyone)?’
Centring values of creativity, lived experience, radical care and relational ways of working we are building essential ways of working to create meaningful change though social justice, climate democracy, young people and anti-poverty work. I feel honoured as a facilitator to be in the heart of this work and I am humbled with how much more there is to learn, develop and grow.
Together with social artist who heads up the LocalMotion Carmarthen work as Collaboration and Change Manager we have been exploring ways of holding brave spaces for complex and potential difficult conversations to happen. My background in Applied Theatre facilitation has led to a push towards more embodied approaches to being in a space together, which is where the COMPOSTÏO work currently sits. Using the garden as metaphor for how we work together, with our values of radical care, relational ways of working, creativity and lived experience forming the soil from which the work grows and where it goes back to to be composted and feed future growth. The photo above is from our first COMPOSTÏO day where we invited the people of Carmarthen to come together and join us in the garden to explore together what we are growing, what we want to grow, what is missing and what are the roles we could play. We are now about to enter into COMPOSTÏO 3 where we will explore how we value and make decisions about the resources our garden needs and enter into a Deep Democracy process to dig deep into the role of governance in our garden with our wonderful co-facilitators Lisa and Jen.
If you are Carmarthen based and wish to attend COMPOSTÏO 3 this Thursday (19th) email [email protected]
