The past two weekends have seen our students compete at both the TAS Scottish Open Championships in Grangemouth and the MightyFist Scottish Open Championships in Dundee, and we couldn’t be prouder of every single competitor who stepped onto the mats to represent Pro-Edge Carluke

Across both events, we saw students challenge themselves, demonstrate fantastic sportsmanship, build confidence and put into practice everything they have been working on in class.

We were particularly delighted to see several students achieve personal milestones, including first-time competitors stepping onto the mats, students winning their first medals and others competing in new events for the first time.

A huge thank you must go to David, our parents and families for their continued support. Competition days simply wouldn’t be possible without the encouragement, commitment and teamwork shown by everyone involved.

Well done Team Pro-Edge Carluke! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store 👊🔥

🏆 𝗔 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 🏆

Last night, members of Pro-Edge Carluke had the honour of attending the South Lanarkshire Disability Sport Awards at Hamilton Town House.

In attendance from the club were Miss Ferguson and Freddie, along with their family members. Unfortunately, Mr Smith was unable to attend the event.

It was a fantastic evening celebrating disability sport and recognising the incredible athletes, coaches and volunteers who help make sport accessible and inclusive across South Lanarkshire. We are incredibly proud that Pro-Edge Carluke was represented in multiple categories.

We are extremely proud of everyone who was recognised. These achievements reflect not only the hard work and commitment of those receiving awards, but also the incredible support we receive from our students, parents, families and volunteers who make our club such a special place.

A huge well done to everyone who was nominated and recognised throughout the evening. It was a brilliant celebration of disability sport, inclusion and the positive impact sport can have on people’s lives 👏🥋

🎉 Congratulations to the SLDS Young Volunteer of the Year: Harley Cu***ng, Pro-Edge Martial Arts Club Carluke.

A young volunteer giving 11 hours every week to support children with additional support needs through the Inclusive Heroes programme at his martial arts club in Carluke. Working one-to-one with children aged 3-12, he also gives up his time for holiday camps, competitions and special events throughout the year. His commitment has been instrumental in building a club the truly includes every child.

Congratulations Harley! 🎉

Unfortunately, Harley was unable to join us to collect his award. His award was colled by Lorna Ferguson on his behalf 😄

🎉 Congratulations to the SLDS Coach of the Year: Lorna Ferguson, Pro-Edge Martial Arts Carluke 🎉

Lorna founded the only martial arts programme in Carluke, with dedicated ASN classes, coaching around 25 children with additional needs in 2025. Her Inclusive Heroes class has helped several children transition into mainstream classes, with students going on to win British and Scottish titles.

Lorna is committed to her own development and has completed qualifications in Autism and Special Educational Needs and is currently learning Makaton to better support non-verbal students.

A huge congratulations to all of our students who graded yesterday 👏

We are incredibly proud of the hard work, effort and progress shown throughout the day across all of our classes.

Gradings are about far more than just belts and certificates. They are an opportunity for students to challenge themselves, build confidence, overcome nerves and showcase the progress they have made both on and off the mats.

All 4 students have shown fantastic effort, improvement and attitude and should be extremely proud of themselves.

What an incredible day yesterday for Team Pro-Edge Carluke at the GMS ###II Open Championships at Ravenscraig 👊🔥

Our team came away with:🥇 3 Gold Medals🥈 4 Silver Medals🥉 4 Bronze Medals

For many of our students, this was their first experience competing at a larger competition and we could not be prouder of the courage, effort and determination they showed throughout the day.

Beyond the medals, we saw students supporting one another, making new friends, building confidence and showing fantastic sportsmanship both on and off the mats 👏

As coaches, watching students overcome nerves, challenge themselves and walk off the mats smiling is what makes days like this so special 👊🥋

A huge thank you to Mr Smith and David for all of their coaching and support throughout the day, as well as Cooper for all of his photos and support for the team 📸

This class is designed for ages 12+, for individuals who may need a more supported, understanding and structured environment to take part and build confidence 👊

We know that not everyone thrives in the same setting — and that’s exactly why this class exists 💥

We support individuals who may:

✔ Have autism, ADHD or anxiety
✔ Have additional support needs
✔ Prefer smaller, calmer groups
✔ Need more time or support to learn
✔ Benefit from structure and routine

Our approach is simple:
👉 We adapt to suit the individual — not the other way around

Through Taekwon-Do, students can:

✔ Build confidence and independence
✔ Improve coordination and focus
✔ Develop routine and structure
✔ Learn new skills at their own pace
