Move Dance School

Move Dance School was formed in 2015 when Principal Teachers Jane Masters and Carol Dick took over the Livingstone School of Dance from Margaret Todd. The Livingstone School of Dance had been running for over 60 years and Jane and Carol, as well as teachers Fiona Parkin and Alex Carmichael are all former pupils. Move welcomes pupils from age 2 1/2 up.

Jane currently teachers the ballet and contemporary classes as well as the ‘wee ones’ classes on Saturdays. Jane’s passion is in choreography and she loves putting together fun and innovate numbers for the annual display. Jane was taught ballet by Jean Hamilton, highland and tap by Margaret Todd and modern by Lynne Hamilton and her aunt used to be a choreographer so she has had plenty of great influences in her dancing career! Jane would get back on stage at the slightest opportunity!

Carol teaches the highland classes for all ages, preparing the pupils for exams and competitions. As the perfect foil to Jane’s ‘staginess’, Carol prefers the competitive side of dancing and is also a member and judge for the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. Carol was taught by Margaret Todd and is a former Champion dancer herself- perfect to impart the technique and hard work into the next generation of Highland Dancers!

Fiona currently teaches the tap and modern classes and is particularly innovative in bringing in new styles such as Street Dance to her numbers. Fiona also works with Carluke Young Farmers on their concerts so is very used to supporting dancers of all ages and abilities!
