🚨 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – CARLISLE JUNIOR TRIATHLON CLUB 🚨

Due to recent “exceptional performance levels” from our junior athletes (we’re looking at you, speedy swimmers 👀), the committee has decided to introduce an exciting new discipline to our training programme…

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♂️ THE QUADRATHLON 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Starting next week, all members will now take part in a fourth event designed to build “real-world endurance and resilience”:

🥔 THE POTATO SACK SPRINT

Athletes will be required to:
- Transition from the run into a standard-issue potato sack
- Hop 200 metres to the finish line
- Maintain “excellent sack control” at all times
- Avoid overtaking penalties for “reckless bouncing”

Parents are encouraged to bring their own sacks, although official club-branded aerodynamic sacks will be available soon (waiting list already open).

Coaches’ Notes:
- Helmets are optional but strongly encouraged
- No clip-in hopping shoes permitted
- Transition times will include sack entry technique scoring

We believe this new format will prepare our athletes for the future of elite competition and keep us ahead of rival clubs (who we assume will copy us shortly).

Training sessions will now begin 10 minutes earlier to allow for sack distribution and hopping drills.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the coaching team… preferably after you’ve practiced your hopping technique.

See you at training – and don’t forget your potatoes! 🥔

Solid performance from club member Sam today in the British Championships (Sprint Duathlon) at Oulton Park finishing 41st overall in the senior men’s race. Sam trained hard right up to this race with no tapering so definitely still more to give but Super Series starts in 3 weeks 💪

Todays event was a 4.3km run followed by a 21.5km bike and another 4.3km run completed in a time of 1:05:42 knocking 11:31 off the last time he completed this course. Hard work and consistency paying off!

3 club members took part in the NW Schools Biathlon Championships yesterday with Hannah taking gold and being crowned Year 4 NW Region Champion - congratulations Hannah!

Hannah placed 1st in both the 400m run, storming to finish 8 seconds clear of 2nd place, and the swim.

Suzie & Sam both finished 2nd in their respective competitions, Year 11 Girls & Year 12/13 Boys, which were both very close competitions.

National rankings will be announced in the next week or so with all hoping to qualify for national finals in Bath at the end of March.

🔥 Consistency is the Real Superpower in Triathlon Training 🔥

It’s not the longest workouts, the fanciest gear, or the perfect conditions that make us stronger—it’s the day-in, day-out commitment to showing up.

Whether it’s a 20-minute recovery run, a quick spin on the bike, or a focused swim session, every small effort stacks up. Triathlon is a sport built on accumulated work, not isolated hero sessions.

Consistency:
🏊 Builds endurance
🚴 Improves technique
🏃 Strengthens mental resilience
💪 Reduces injury risk
✨ Creates unstoppable momentum

You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep going.

If you trained today—no matter how little—celebrate it. If you didn’t, tomorrow is another chance to move forward.

Stay steady. Stay committed. The finish line rewards consistency. 🏅💙
