Beehive vs longtown

A tough one across the water today as Billy’s Blues head to the Sheepmount looking to make it 19 unbeaten.

Last time out against Beehive, Longtown did the business , coming away 2–0 winners. solid, and deserved. The lads will be aiming for more of the same this morning.

Can Longtown keep the streak alive — or will Beehive be the ones to halt them in their tracks?

Beehive get us underway but it’s Longtown with the foot on the gas early on, creating a few good chances. The best falls to Nath, who fires just over the bar.

Beehive with a chance of their own to open the scoring after a good ball into the box, but the header drifts well wide.

Straight after, Longtown come closest as Harv Hannah’s headed effort is cleared off the line.

Longtown are on top here and go again – a good strike from Nath takes a deflection and forces a great save from the Beehive keeper.

A brief moment of panic at the back for Billy’s Blues as Towns plays a short pass back to Thomas, but the Beehive touch is too heavy and the danger passes.

1-0 Longtown

Boyd wins a foul and whips in the cross. It’s C***a with the bicycle kick, past the keeper, and the boys are 1-0 up.

2-0 Longtown

Straight from the kick-off, Boyd goes on a great run and finds Nath, who finishes even better to double the lead.

3-0 Longtown

Boyd showing great skill down the left, cuts it back and delivers a fantastic ball to Pearsy, who heads home for 3-0.

4-0 Longtown

Some great football from Billy’s Blues, working it into the box. Towns squares it to Pearsy for a simple finish into an open goal.

Another big chance for Harv with a header, but again it’s over the bar.

Beehive look to counter, but Towns times a crouching tackle perfectly right in front of the away support.

An excellent first-half display from the boys, dominating from the first whistle and still looking hungry for more.

5-0 Longtown

Pearsy threads a great through ball to Ellis, who smashes it home to make it five.

5-1 Beehive

Dolly sees yellow and Beehive are awarded a penalty. T-Bag gets close but can’t keep it out.

6-1 Longtown

Beehive try to respond straight away, but it’s a great counter. Nial drives forward and fires it across the box for Sam to finish at the back post.

It’s another penalty to Beehive as Hendo is penalised, but Thomas pulls off a great save to keep them out.

7-1 Longtown

Boyd wins a free-kick and rifles it home.

8-1 Longtown

Nath rounds off the scoring with a composed finish.

A dominant display from Billy’s Blues, hardly putting a foot wrong and showing real quality throughout. That makes it 19 unbeaten this season.

MOTM: Towns with a solid performance in the middle, though it could have gone to any of the lads today.

Longtown vs gilford

The boys in blue return to the Stuart Harris Ground this morning with Billy back at the helm as they welcome Gilford.

The last time these two sides met, Longtown delivered a statement performance, running out emphatic 6–0 winners in a dominant display. Billy will be hoping for more of the same today as his side look to extend their impressive unbeaten run to 18 matches.

Longtown get us underway and from the first whistle they’re on the front foot, dominating possession.

1-0 Longtown

Hendo picks out Boyd in the box and he absolutely smashes it home to put the boys 1-0 up.

Another great chance for Longtown as a corner is swung in by Sam, finding Harv Hannah on the edge of the box, but his effort flies miles and miles and miles wide.

2-0 Longtown

Boyd turns provider with a sublime outside of the foot pass into the box. Pears receives it with his back to goal, takes a touch, turns , and buries a weak-foot strike into the top corner. An unbelievable finish with his stiff hips .

2-1 Gilford

Sloppy at the back gives Gilford a lifeline, their striker left with the simplest of tap-ins.

2-2 Gilford

From cruising to chaos. Thomas Taylor, recently re-signed between the sticks for Billy’s blues goes down by some mysterious sniper shot (“tripped on his own fat arse”), and Gilford capitalise with another easy finish.

A brilliant chance for Longtown to retake the lead sees Harv Hannah glance a header just wide.

Peasry then has a golden opportunity before the break, but it’s an outstanding save from the Gilford keeper to keep things level.

HT 2-2

Not the best half from the boys after racing into a two-goal lead. The intensity dropped and Gilford punished the mistakes. Still, another 45 to put it right.

3-2 Longtown

Corrie bursts into the box and finds Peasry, who smashes his second of the game into the roof of the net. Longtown back in front.

4-2 Longtown

Quick as you like. Nath threads a lovely ball through to Hutton, who calmly slots home the fourth.

5-2 Longtown

The boys are flying now. Boyd delivers a pinpoint corner and Corrie rises highest to power home a header.

6-2 Longtown

It’s six for Billy’s Blues as Taylor caps it off with a tidy finish into the bottom corner.

FT: Longtown 6-2 Gilford

A much-improved second-half display from the boys in blue, not giving Gilford a sniff after the break. The unbeaten run now stretches to 18 games.

Man of the Match: Nath – relentless in the middle of the park and didn’t stop all game.

Thanks to Gilford for both fixtures this season and best of luck for the remainder of the campaign.

Longtown vs Harraby

There’s been a meeting after Harraby requested the game be replayed and the score still stands after the game was abandoned due to Ellis Riley breaking his leg
We would just like to thank the league committee for taking everything into account and making the decision to keep the result as it was as there was only 10 mins left and Longtown were on top

Secondly we would just like to thank Harraby for the 6 points this season it’s been a pleasure lads cheers 🫡

Cranemakers vs Longtown

Billy’s on nappy duty and Hendo’s soaking up the sun, so one-legged Wiley took charge as Longtown made the trip to Melbourne to face the Cranemakers the same side they drew 2-2 with just seven days ago at the Stuart Harris Ground. Same applies as last week First vs second again, and after last week’s result, this one was always set up to be tight.

It was a shortened Longtown squad today, with Ellis only having 14 to choose from. Despite that, the boys in blue started brightly. A strong run from Boyd set up Pearsy, who finished well to open the scoring and put Longtown 1-0 up. Not long after, Boyd got on the scoresheet himself, curling a corner straight into the net to make it 2-0.

From there, the momentum shifted. The Cranemakers pulled one back just before half-time and gradually found their way back into the game, levelling things in the second half.

Charlie Riley thought he had restored the lead after finding the net, but the referee pulled it back — one of a few decisions that raised eyebrows. Still, the boys responded. A free kick in a dangerous area saw Boyd step up and fire low and hard into the bottom corner to make it 3-2.

With little time left, the Cranemakers struck again to level it at 3-3. Shortly after, the referee brought an end to a proper end-to-end contest.

Not the most detailed write-up this week with our reporter away, but that’s now 17 games unbeaten and Longtown remain top of the table.

MOTM: Ell Mon — worked tirelessly in the middle all game.

We go again next week, back home at the Stuart Harris Ground against Gilford, who Billy’s Blues beat 6-0 in the reverse fixture.

Longtown vs Cranemakers

Hendo’s in charge as Longtown welcome the Cranemakers to the Stuart Harris Ground for the first time this season. With both teams sitting at the top of the table — Longtown in 1st and the Cranemakers in 2nd — there’s plenty at stake.

A win for Longtown would see them pull clear of the chasing pack, while a win for the Cranemakers would blow the league wide open. This one had all the makings of a cracking game of football.

The atmosphere at the Stuart Harris Ground is electric, with fans lining both sides of the pitch (can’t blame them wanting to watch the Langtoon in action 💙). It didn’t help that both sets of lads were stood ready, waiting on a ref who didn’t show up for another 15 minutes… but he’s here now and the game’s on!

And from the off, the tackles are flying in to what’s shaping up to be a fiery contest.

Not even five minutes on the clock and the Cranemakers pick up the first yellow card of the game.

Longtown 1–0

What a start from Hendo’s Blues. Boyd whips the ball into the box from a free kick in his own half and it’s Pearsy who fires the Blues into the lead.

Cranemakers 1–1

A well-worked free kick swung into the box and a free header pulls the away side level.

The Cranemakers pick up another yellow card.

The game has really opened up now, with chances at both ends. The closest of them all falls to Pearsy again, with a cheeky backheel attempt that forces a strong save from the keeper.

Cranemakers 2–1

Not what the boys wanted as the Cranemakers take the lead following some questionable defending at the back and a calm finish.

Another yellow card for the Cranemakers.

Boyd then picks up the first card for the Blues and goes into the book himself.

Another yellow… Cranemakers again.

A brilliant chance for Longtown to go level as Boyd whips in another dangerous free kick, but Harvey Gordon’s header goes just the wrong side of the post.

Not the scoreline the boys would’ve wanted heading into the break, but with another 45 minutes still to play, anything could happen — and the lads will be looking to put things right.

The second half starts much the same, end to end football with neither side knowing where the next goal would come from.

Longtown 2–2

A superb run down the wing from Boyd, who finds Corrie bursting forward. He smashes a lovely finish into the Cranemakers’ net to bring the boys back level!

Another yellow card for the Cranemakers… they’ve had more cards than chances so far.

There’s not much more to write about in the second half. Longtown were unlucky in the final few minutes not to grab a winner, but we can’t win them all.

Longtown 2–2 Cranemakers

The ref blows for full time on a game that maybe wasn’t a classic, but one that showed exactly why both teams are sitting above the rest of the pack. For the boys in blue, the unbeaten run stays intact.

A big well done to all the lads today — everyone showed why they deserve to be picked, fighting for one another right to the final whistle.

MOTM goes to Corrie, who was relentless at the back, hardly put a foot wrong, and topped it off with a well-taken goal.

Longtown vs Carlisle Reivers

Longtown welcomed Carlisle Reivers to the Stuart Harris Ground on a wet and cold morning. This was the first-ever meeting between the two sides, with Billy’s Blues looking to keep their good form going — but could Reivers upset the odds?

Longtown get us underway and from the first whistle apply heavy pressure on the Reivers back line.

Longtown 1–0
It’s lovely football as Hutton plays a great ball to Peasry, who hits it first time and finds the bottom corner. 1–0.

Not long after, Peasry has another great chance but hits the post.

Longtown 2–0
More good football from the boys in blue. Ell Mon plays it into Peasry, who finds Sam at the back post to make it two.

Longtown 3–0
Hendo is fouled in the box and the ref points to the spot. Hendo steps up, finds the corner, and the keeper has no chance. 3–0.

Longtown 4–0
A lovely flick from Peasry finds Nath, who calmly slots it past the keeper for Longtown’s fourth.

Another great chance follows as Billy whips in a dangerous ball and a Reivers defender rises highest, hitting his own crossbar. Not long after, the bar is hit again — this time Hendo comes close to his second of the game.

A good ball across the box leaves an easy finish for the Reivers player.

Boyd responds well, playing the ball to Peasry, who flicks it down to Ell Mon to fire home.

Ell Mon returns the favour, setting up Peasry who doubles his tally for the day.

Hutton picks up the first booking of the game and sees yellow.

Reivers go close again but hit the post.

Longtown 8–2
The keeper makes a good save, but Robbie Al is there to follow up for his second of the day and Longtown’s eighth.

Longtown 9–2
A brilliant ball from Robbie Al finds Peasry, who grabs his hat-trick.

Robbie Al thinks he’s completed his own hat-trick with a header from a great ball into the box, but the flag goes up for offside.

Longtown 10–2
Sam makes it double figures, smashing it past the keeper.

FT: Longtown 10–2 Carlisle Reivers

Billy’s Blues keep the title charge going with a comfortable home win. The ten goals today also mean the lads have now scored 100 league goals this season.

MOTM: Robbie Al — two goals and an assist on the day.
