Final score for the Cougars today was a 22-7 win! 🔥

A fantastic game of rugby from both sides today! Thank you to everyone who came down to support 🫶🏻 The final whistle blew shortly into the fourth 20 minute quarter on account of one of our injured players requiring time and support to mobilise to the hospital for further assessment (where she joined another of our players who was already there getting a face laceration stitched!) but neither team left anything on the pitch today 💪🏻🏉 And we wish both our injured parties quick recoveries 🤞🏻

Introducing the Carlisle Cougars Captaincy Team for 2026/27!

Lynsey’s taking on the Captain reins from predecessor Phil who’s still going to be very much present as our unbeatable scrum half. Providing ultimate hype and game day energy as well as a lot of behind the scenes action, Lynsey’s excited to take on this new role 🙌🏻 Lynsey is sponsored by The Throstle’s Nest this season 🍻

Vanessa continues in her role as Vice Captain this season. An absolute rugby machine with a portfolio spanning three different countries she is guaranteed to lead by example, take no nonsense and no doubt impress our supporters with her hard carries, defensive pressure and unmatched metres💪🏻 Nessa is sponsored again this season by Hilltop Leaf 🍁

Sarah (Irish) is also stepping up this season taking on the role of Vice Captain. Her golden boot is renowned across NC1 and for good reason! Some of our Cougars are taking part in the Wooden Spoon charity’s VetsFest in September!

There are some women’s open training sessions (for those taking part in the tournament, and anyone else who fancies a run around) at our neighbour’s on Friday 11th September & Friday 18th September 19:30 onwards

❤️💙 MEET THE PLAYER 💙❤️
Meet Heather - our resident baker, Chappell Roan enthusiast and Kim’s number 1 fan!

Heather joined us a few years ago after some gentle persuasion away from the sidelines watching girlfriend Kim play ❤️ Not many people can say their first taste of playing rugby was in at the deep end propping but it’s a challenge Heather took on and really made her mark 💥

Despite a longstanding back injury restricting Heather’s game time she’s still a regular face at training and always makes our newcomers feel welcome 🥰 we can’t wait to see her back on the pitch but in the meantime we’re so happy we can count on her to provide the away day bus baked goods 😋

Say hello to the Cougars Coaches!

2026/27 brings us a new coaching team and we couldn’t be more excited!

“James” as he prefers to be called (or “Mackie” as we actually call him) joins us this season as Head Coach but he’s no stranger to the Cougars with an extensive history coaching our friends at Kendal and latterly Upper Eden as well as many years in the Cumbria Women’s programme.

Lucy joined us as a player last season and unfortunately experienced a serious injury early on but she has embodied our Through Thick and Thin motto, channeling the adversity into a motivation to drive the team forward as our Assistant Coach.

We’re honoured to have both Mackie & Lucy steering the ship this season and can’t wait to do them proud 🫡❤️💙
