Another close race start to finish and separated by 0.2 on the line ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Very exciting race wondering where a move might be made? Where should I make a move? Always something to think about!

Brutal hills on a hot night made for a very tough race and ten pressure always on giving us no time to ease off or lose focus!

Despite a head to hear race all the way round I was a couple of seconds down on last years time, probably due to the conditions.

I am very grateful to have this level of competition, support and expectation!

POV: Running a 16:12 5k!

Yes itโ€™s very shaky but bear with me, itโ€™s my first time trying something like this out.

Nonetheless this is kinda what it looks like for me, including the bits in the middle which no one usually sees!

Running Strathclyde Park 5k, chasing 16 minutes and taking the win!

I thought it was quite cool and funny to watch back!

Strathclyde Park 5k

16:12, 1st ๐Ÿฅ‡

Cooler conditions compared to recent weeks made for good conditions for racing on this fast flat out and back course. However a small headwind may have had a part to play.

The competition included Kyle Fleming who I have raced before. Knowing he could run a similar time I tucked in behind him in an attempt to shelter from the wind. Pace was strong, in one or two attempts to pull alongside, the pace increased!

At the halfway point we turned round the cone and doubled back. Not planned I came out of the turn and made my move, bold at only halfway! But it stuck.

With the wind behind me the last mile was fast as I chased the lead bike and finished strong. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

With the aim of running sub 16 for the first time on the road unfortunately all the stars didnโ€™t align on this day. And thatโ€™s ok. Thereโ€™ll be another one. The damage had been done in the middle of the race with the small headwind, also not quite as much competition as Iโ€™d hoped to pull me along.

Resulting in an unexpected but welcome race win! So canโ€™t complain at all!๐Ÿ˜

Maisie also ran very well, only 3 seconds off her PB in 23:36! ๐Ÿคฉ

Gelston 5 Mile

27:56, 2nd ๐Ÿฅˆ

A tough race for everyone in the heat resulting in a lot of people being a little slower than last years run, I just didnโ€™t have it in the legs to keep up with Phil! ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿป

After two miles he pulled away and with 3rd place another two minutes behind there wasnโ€™t any pressure. I managed to keep the pace consistent and increase in the last mile to cruise into the finish. ๐Ÿ

Other lessons; donโ€™t return to 5 asides after 7 years two days before! I knew it would be sore but this was bad. Felt like anything could cramp up at any point for two days, hamstrings especially.

I spent a lot of time trying to loosen up, stretching, foam rolling, massage gun, compression, hot, cold. But I knew that all I needed was time. Which I didnโ€™t have!

So anyway. We learn, hopefullyโ€ฆ decent run considering the conditions and will be racing 5k next week. Still suited to the short stuff this summer.

Special mention to the GMan, thank you for letting me try out the sooopa fast VapourFly 4s! ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Border Harriers Open Meet ๐ŸŒ…๐Ÿ

1 mile - 4.36 PB
800m - 2.07 PB

Two shortest races of the year but both in one night!

The mile I was looking forward to running, fast off the start line to take the shortest route in the corner, the top three pulled away, onto the final lap of 4 I was overtaken, I didnโ€™t mind this as I could then latch onto the back of them and help push me to keep the pace up on the final lap, I got him back on the finish line! ๐Ÿ

16 second PB so over the moon with that ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Unsurprising after pushing my body to the limit I didnโ€™t feel great! A sort of dry feeling in my throat, a lot of coughing, I wasnโ€™t really sure how to spend the 45 minutes before the 800m race.

Telling myself it was just another rep, trying to convince myself I could run faster on heavy legs.

Lining up for the 800m, the plan ofcourse to run as fast as I could but get round the first lap then empty the tank on the second. I certainly felt super heavy on that last lap but before I knew it was over. Giving me a 2.07 in my 800m debut

Wow what a race! I planned for a fast start off the line then settle into the race.

With DRC teammates Phil and Charlie on either shoulder the pressure was high and the race was on!

We were neck and neck for the whole race, a couple of moves to try and catch each other out, tucking in behind and hanging on.

With 300m to go we had built a small gap to 3rd place Charlie. I came into Philโ€™s shoulder, the pace increased, faster and somehow faster again!

It came down to a full blown sprint finish in the final 200m. I tailed Phil all the way to the line but with no way past! What a finish!

Massive respect once again to the guys, running head to head is so exciting and brings out the best in us all! ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿซก

Well done also so so many friends, clients and family who ran this race, some brilliant performances which we should all be grateful for. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

Also thanks to everyone for their support, especially during home races like this, messages, conversations, claps and cheers all really do mean a lot. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

First time running this one, very warm night and undulating course made for a tough run!

Keeping it steady and enjoying the country roads I brought home the W ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿผ
