Little Fins Swim School David & Jackie Richardson (Swimming Teachers) We provide high quality swimming lessons in Carlisle. Lessons are 30mins duration and run in 10 week blocks.

We teach at The Crown Leisure Club Wetheral .We run approved ASA swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. We give you the option of learning in small groups (1 instructor to maximum 5 pupils) or have your own private lessons based on your current ability and confidence. Our teachers are water based ensuring that our lessons give maximum benefit providing high quality teaching, helping learners

to swim, be safe and above all have fun in the water! Not only do we teach children to swim but we specialise in progressing young athletes through into the sport of competitive swimming. Lessons operate to the highest standards with a flexible progressive programme catering for choice of day, time and ability stage to suit your needs. 💙 WATER SAFETY WEEK 💙

Huge well done to all our amazing swimmers who completed Float to Live recently. Next week we will be learning Water Safety !

Your confidence and progress in Float to Live was fantastic we could not be prouder of all of you. We hope you all enjoy our Water Safety too !

💙 FLOAT TO LIVE 💙

This week our children are learning all about potential dangers in and around water and also hard at work practising their skills on FLOAT TO LIVE !

As a swim school we always teach our children to swim to the best of their ability but it is crucial that we teach them about the potential dangers in and around water.

The average sea temperature around the UK is approximately 12 deg c. Inland water like rivers, lakes, reservoirs etc can be even colder … even during the summer months. When in water below 15 deg c your body can go into cold water shock. If this happens your heart rate and blood pressure rises quickly and you can loose control of your breathing and movement. If you found yourself struggling in the water unexpectedly your instinct would tell you to swim hard but cold water shock can make you gasp uncontrollably then take in water. Instead you should Float To Live.

Float on your back
Try to relax
Gently move your arms to stay afloat
Spread out arms and legs for stability
Once your breathing is under control - call for help or swim to safety.
