Scotby Cycles was founded in the early 1980's originally selling reconditioned bikes from small premises located in the village of Scotby (hence the name) just east of the Great Border City of Carlisle which the company would relocate to come the 1990's. al given we're located on the edge of the Lake District. We're also located on both Hadrians Cycleway (route 72) which mostly follows the route of Hadrian's Wall from West Cumbria over to Newcastle and the Land's End to John o'Groats (LEJOG) cycle routes which makes us an ideal pit stop for those cyclists with bikes in need of a cycle mechanics TLC and a cup of tea. In the early 2000's we moved again across the road to its current location in a large repurposed theatre/cinema/church/dance hall/bingo pallor (yeah, our current home has a bit of history - the workshop still has the remains of the projector booth) which allowed us to expand not only our retail store floor space but also the building accommodates three additional floors which allows us to uniquely hold significantly more stock on site than many independent cycle stores of a comparable size. This new storage capacity and floor space to work would pay dividends in the years to come as internet shopping became more and more prevalent for cycle clothing and accessories to the point where it today has become the unquestionable de facto means of shopping. Throughout the years, the company has grown leaps and bounds but we remain focused on our core values of providing a level of customer service which we ourselves would expect to receive and to offer our customers the best possible deal on gear we know and love from widely recognisable brands such as Cannondale, Merida, Marin, GT, Haibike, MiRider, Raleigh and Wisper.
