📣 Cumberland FA Women's League Result
A difficult night for the teams in the Summer League. Our Blues travelled to play a strong League Leaders team in Carlisle City FC Women The Blues traveled with a thread bare team due to injuries and commitments, and required 6 outfield players who wanted to step up for the team and go in goals as our goalkeeper fell ill on the morning of the game!!
A fantastic effort ensued by the Blues however with the scoreline 1-0 until the 45min, and several chances to score created, striking the post twice, and a couple of 1v1s with the City keeper who was in fine form as well as some half chance scrambles in the box. The team stuck together and worked exceptionally hard but the changes and disruption inevitably caught up with the Blues!!
We wish Carlisle the best of luck for the rest of their league campaign.
At home our Yellows also had a stern test against a cracking team in the Workington Town Wildcats who punished them for a disjointed first half performance. A much improved team effort in the second half saw a more even affair and chances created but the Wildcats were clinical in the final third. As has been the case for the Yellows this Summer League, improvements are encouraging every week even if results say different, as the girls use this as a platform to launch into the Winter League and are growing week by week against teams with an array of quality!!
