7 years of owning the yoga studio today! And 10 years this month of being a yoga teacher. 15 years of practising yoga .
Why do we start yoga? For most it’s aesthetics- I want to touch my toes I want to have a body that feels good when I age and I want to feel strong and supportive in my body.
But for a lot of people it’s because they’re at their wits end and don’t know which way to turn.
Our studio owner started yoga in 2011 looking for support during her twin sisters debilitating illness. It had taken over her family’s life and the day to day stress had gotten all too much.
Yoga gave Emma a moment of peace, somewhere she could go to escape and feel better. A practice to rebalance from the stress of everything life throws at us.
Yoga supported Emma through her twin sisters extremely sad passing in 2019 and became the backbone of help after that journey.
In 2020 she raised money for jigsaw hospice in Jodie’s memory through an open day at the yoga studio and her parents won a bravery award from the sick children’s trust in 2022- over Jodie’s life she raised more than 50K for SCT & jigsaw hospice.
The aim of this post is to say yoga will help far beyond the physical benefits, it’ll give you time out, reconnect you with strength you never knew you had and give you a community that welcomes you no matter where in life you’re at.
If you’re hurting, confused, lost- this practice can bring you support. And yoga is a practice that far outweighs its physical benefits.
You never know what’s happening in someone’s life so this post is to boost transparency that you’re not alone. Our classes aren’t just classes, they’re time out for you to breathe, to stop time and responsibilities and to leave feeling better.
We know more than you know about struggles, and we will always welcome you with open arms.
Yoga will always be there for you, and so will we ♥️
After 7 years running the studio through grief, a pandemic, motherhood, pregnancy & raising newborns while running a business all I can say is thank you- thank you to each and everyone of you who come through our doors and show up.
You keep us going 🫶🏼 keep showing up, we are stronger together 🔥
