Carlisle Villa Amateur Boxing Club Carlisle Villa Amateur Boxing Club is a Registered Charity. Registered No:1140493. The date 1993 was the date we moved to the Villa and renamed.

A brief history: Carlisle Villa Amateur Boxing Club was formed in 1993, after Currock Villa Boys Club club leader Peter Herring invited us to use Currock Villa as a base, when notice was received that the old club hut at the Harraby Catholic Club was to be demolished and we would have to quit that site. The Club when based in Harraby was known as Christus Rex and was formed in the early 70’s and

owes a great deal to the late Father John Cahalane & Jacky Ratchford John was the priest at Christ The King Church, these two were instrumental in the setting up of the boxing club. Colin Nixon the former Chairman joined the club in the 70’s to assist with training. His first position was that of competition secretary until he later took over the complete running of the club. Colin was assisted in the early days by the current Chairman George Graves, Brian Sanderson and the late Brian Jackson. George and Brian Jackson went on to become boxing officials and Brian Sanderson who still coaches is now the Club Secretary. Club Badge: The Club Badge is divided into quarters top left quadrant has the Carlisle red fox long association with the City's football team. The top right has a picture of the Currock Villa Boys Club where we are now based. The bottom left quadrant has the figure of an amateur boxer and the final quadrant has features a white cross which reminds us of our past when we were formed in the Church grounds of Christ the King when we boxed under the name of "Christus Rex".

Presentation Afternoon 2026 🥇🏆

After a truly fantastic season both inside and outside of the ring we finish off with our annual awards afternoon🏆🥇🏆.
This will take place at the Harraby Catholic Club on Sunday August 9th starting a 12 noon.
All sessions are invited to attend, HIIT, Woman’s Only, Mindfit and all our boxing sessions.
There is no limit on numbers so Parents, Grandparents, brothers and sisters are all welcome.
We have had an exceptional season and we would like to invite all members past and present to join us in celebrating all our achievements.
-National Champions, National Finalists, Fantastic training facilities, top coaches, pro-am licences, club tracksuits, we have the lot 💥🥊

Well done last night Marc Haughan, that was a devastating knock out👍💥🥊, to move to 3-0 in the pro ranks.
Glad that both boxers exited the venue in good health 🙏.
Still a bit to work on but another really good learning fight which will stand him in good stead for the next one🥊.
