Pentwyn Lake Run by Coed-y-Nant Angling & Conservation Group

Situated behind Pentwyn Leisure Centre, Bryn Celyn Road, Pentwyn, Cardiff with parking at leisure centre.

Pentwyn lake or Parc Coed-y-Nant (Trees near Stream) was constructed as an ornamental lake in 1975 as part of the former Pentwyn

Park Improvement proposals and is now currently being run by Coed-y-Nant Angling & Conservation Group. The lake is fed from the Nant Glandulais Stream course. The deepest section is approximately 1.2 metres close to the dam. Although shallow, the water supply is consta

nt and fairly well oxygenated with a 6-8 day turnover. There is a reasonable stock of Roach, Bream, Perch, Tench, Chub with Carp being one of the predominant species, and there are future plans for desilting and restocking. The lake is popular with local anglers from both Pentwyn and Llanedeyrn estates due to its convenient location. The area is a public park and is often used by dog walkers, local residents and children as well as anglers.

As there has been a number of angler's, myself included, who have complainted to Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru / Natural Resources Wales yet have had no action from them whatsoever. Therefore, I have made a formal complaint regarding NRW's lack of action in tackling the illegal fishing on the lake.

I'll keep everyone up to date on any developments on this matter.

Please... If anyone see's/witness's anybody fishing illegally and or removing fish illegally or worse, cooking them then call 101 or 999 quoting the code 116/11 so the crime is logged correctly and the police HAVE to act on it.

It's our lake and our community and with your help we can't stamp out this problem.

Don't forget that from April 1st you'll need a new 2015/16 coarse fishing licence to fish the lake. You can get them from your local Post Office or online
