Badminton in Wales relies on people giving their time and effort to our sport.

As part of our Vision to 2030, we want to build on that commitment and give more people the opportunity to get involved.

Our ambition is to double our volunteer base across clubs, leagues, national level, while recruiting, developing and recognising technical officials from umpires and line judges to administrators.

We also want to strengthen the voice of our younger members, ensuring they have a role in shaping the future of badminton in Wales.

Because getting more people involved, and helping them play a bigger part in our sport, is central to where we want to be by 2030.

We’re delighted to launch our new 'Get on Court' Fund, created to help more people discover badminton and support clubs in creating new opportunities for underrepresented groups.

The fund can support initiatives for junior players, women & girls, disability groups, ethnic minority groups, and other under represented communities.

Successful clubs will receive support through an agreed amount of shuttles, alongside guidance from their local Regional Community Manager.

One of the lovely parts of the Awards Gala was recognising the people who have represented Wales over the last few years. Our Juniors and Graded Players to our Masters and Umpires, each had the honour of wearing the Welsh colours and representing our sport.

“This evening is for all of you. The people who are the heartbeat of our sport.”

That was the message from CEO Kelly Aston MBE as she opened the Awards Gala, putting the focus exactly where it should be, on the Badminton Wales community.

The players. The coaches. The volunteers. The officials. The families. The clubs. The people who give their time, week after week, to keep our sport moving.

A message that felt very fitting for an evening like this.
