San Domenico RC A friendly running club based in Cardiff - sessions on Tuesday & Thursday nights at 7pm and Sunday 9am longer run at paces to suit. New runners always welcome!

We have a wide range of members, from young to old, who run with us socially on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Roath and City Centre area of Cardiff. The aim of the club is to have fun, feel healthy and achieve personal goals irrespective of whether we’re running socially or at a race. The club meets at either St Peters Rugby Club or Penylan Community Centre, Cardiff every Thursday for runs ranging from 3-4 miles to the odd 8 to 10 miler. We meet at 6:50 pm (run starts at 7pm) and there will always be someone willing to run at your pace. We also run Tuesday night speed or interval sessions at various locations around Cardiff. These meet at 6:50pm and start at 7pm. It is best to check on our forum or Twitter feed () to see where we will be. Members run at anything from 5 to 12 minute miling in road races, cross country and multi-terrain competitions. We also have a contingent of triathletes and cyclists that you can train with. We compete in big races like the Cardiff Half Marathon, to smaller ones run by local clubs, to local Cross Country Leagues for a bit of added variety. Over the last 3 weeks members shared photos of their parkrun adventures in Aberbeeg, Cardiff, Llanishen Park, Colby Woodland Garden, Ross on Wye, Lydney, Grangemoor, Stonehouse and Coldham’s Common

Abroad we had runners at Zuiderpark, Rotterdam 🇳🇱, ESBA 🇨🇾 and Amager Strandpark 🇩🇰 where we bumped into Dame Kelly 💫🥇🥇💫

A magnificent bunch of San Domenico members pursuing the SuperHalfs could be found in Copenhagen last weekend, enjoying one or more of the WRRC half marathon, 5k road race, and a cheeky 🇩🇰 parkrun (with none other than Dame Kelly 💫🥇🥇💫 for company).

It was Ben’s turn on the Saturday, running two 5ks on an injured ankle (against his own professional advice). He was much more comfortable the following day watching Simon, Cat, Paulina, Em, Renee, and Natalie as they encountered some interesting Danish weather (from glorious sunshine to blowing a gale and torrential rain) on their half marathon.
All are now official runners-up in a world championship road race 🙌🏻.

Away from running, there was some spectacular touristing undertaken, including a visit to Malmo 🇸🇪 thanks to Paulina’s wonderful planning. One group did a bit of hot-tubbing overlooking the Baltic before paying a visit to uber cool street food venue, Reffen. A brilliant weekend; Copenhagen is highly recommended!

A fantastic outing for the team at the Home Nations Podium 5K, with five of our runners putting down some seriously quick times on the fast, flat course.

34 members ran the popular Cardiff 10k in the glorious summer weather. Great results for the club where 10 people ran a PB and 10 a SB.

James D, Johnny L, Chris M, Kev, Ian B, Simon C, Phil B, Paulina and Brian ran at the alternative Cardiff whilst James H, George R, Rob, Ceri, Em, Hannah, Cat and Vahe were at Llanishen Park where Meg was RD. Becks ran at Tremorfa and Jamie and Craig were at Penallta. Andy and Karen ran at Newport and Dan and Jack H were down the road at Riverfront.

Elsewhere, Matt H was at Akrotiri cyprus and Matt J ran at Jesmond Dene ahead of the GNR on Sunday,

We also had members at Blaise Castle, Cosmeston Lakes and Parc Dewi Sant.

This marathon celebrated its 40th anniversary this weekend and Matt T went to check it out. Here is what he thought of it:

On Saturday, Matt H ran at the closed venue of Happy Valley in 🇨🇾 and Dan L volunteered at the inaugural Zuiderpark, Rotterdam 🇳🇱

Closer to home, Jack, James D and Chris M ran at Trelai Park whilst Jonathan was at Leazes and Simon, Natalie and Eleanor were at Glossop.

We also had members at Bicester, Cardiff, Llanishen Park, Rogiet and Tremorfa.

Last weekend saw two of our runners compete in the CPR weekend; five races of varying distances over the courseof two days.

The weekend started with a 9am 5k, 1pm 10k, 5pm XC on the Saturday, followed by a 9am half marathon, and finishing off with 1 mile at 2pm on the Sunday.

Despite at times some horrendous downpours and difficult conditions, both of our runners reported a great weekend, with Paul J coming away with 2nd Male overall, and Sarah W 1st female overall, with their five accumalative times making up the final results.

A great event and full weekend of running which requires some extra tactical thinking for survival!

The event was brilliantly organised and had a great camaraderie between all runners who took part in the challenge.
