When you think of energy saving measures you might think solar panels or LED lighting, but saving water can make a big difference to your club’s bills, too!

Collecting and reusing rainwater is a great way to make the most of Wales’ wonderful wet weather.

How are water saving solutions helping clubs?

♻️ Keeping machinery clean at Hawarden Golf Club using a water recycling system

🌧️ Creating sustainable facilities at Ynystawe Cricket Club using tanks to collect and store rainwater

⛳ Improving the greens at Caernarfon Golf Club using a borehole

It’s practical changes like these that are helping clubs keep things going for their members.

Our CEO Brian Davies shares how important the School Sport Survey is in helping us understand how children and young people across Wales want to take part in sport and physical activity.

The survey helps partners across the country use real insight to improve opportunities and make sport more accessible for everyone.

A big thank you to all the schools and partners who make it possible. 🤝

Llanrumney residents were struggling as they lost most of their community hubs and high school over the years.

So Llanrumney Community Sports Trust was founded to provide and protect community sports, and give the community facilities and space to thrive.

The building had issues with the electrical supply, and Steve, Chair of Trustees, applied to the Sport Wales Energy Saving Grant for solar panels and battery storage, and the rest is history. ⚡

Allowing the Trust to reinvest back into better equipment and kit for training, the funding has brought the community together and sports teams are now going from strength to strength, including an expanding Women's football side.

📣 What could your club do? It's not too late to apply to this year's Energy Saving Grant. Submit your expression of interest by 5pm, Monday 29 June: https://bit.ly/4dzbNS2

The Energy Saving Grant is now open! ⚡
What could your club do if it spent less on energy?

Keep your doors open longer. Create a warmer and more welcoming space. Put more back into your players, volunteers and community.
This funding supports practical changes like solar, insulation and more efficient heating so your club can run sustainably and keep showing up for the people who rely on it.

➡️ Who can apply: Not-for-profit clubs that own their facility or have at least 7 years remaining on their lease
↩️ Not eligible: Schools, commercial organisations or clubs without long-term control of their facility

Start with a short Expression of Interest through our new investment portal. You will need to create an account on the new portal before you can apply.

Every child deserves to be heard, which is why the 2026 School Sport Survey is the most accessible and engaging version yet.

This means a wider and more diverse range of children and young people can take part, helping shape the future of sport and physical activity in Wales.

So, what does this mean? This year's survey is:

âś… Designed using the feedback pupils said would be helpful for them.
âś… Available in 15 languages including Welsh and English.
âś… Fully audio narrated.
âś… Available in British Sign Language, Makaton and Easy Read versions.
âś… And has help available on every page.

What pupils tell us influences how sport is delivered today and how it will evolve in the future. The School Sport Survey gives them the opportunity for change in Wales to reflect what they really need.

If your school hasn't received the survey, email us at [email protected].

Dance and Creative Movement wasn't on Fairfield Primary School's radar, but the School Sport Survey helped them provide opportunities that their pupils asked for.

Giving their pupils a voice to clearly communicate their needs, the survey helped the school provide wider sporting options. They have since found that children less engaged in physical activity are now taking part in the lunchtime dance zone, and sports like darts are supporting cross-curricular skills like numeracy and literacy.

Results from the School Sport Survey will help your school's leadership team integrate physical activity into your every-day schedule - take part in the survey today.
