Not done a Medal Monday for a while and feels good to be doing one now!
Continued the tradition of taking a picture of the children with the medal, it’s getting a bit more of an action shot as they won’t sit still now!
The story of yesterday!
It started with weeks of thinking I’m not ready for this and considering pulling out.
Saturday I woke with a migraine and felt rubbish, my ear was also feeling full, like the start of a ear infection!
I woke up race day feeling ‘MEH’, thinking I shouldn’t really do this, I won’t enjoy (which was really my only objective*) and considered was it dangerous (my way to talk myself out of it!)
I had a shower and thoughts you’ll be ok when you got going!
kindly dropped me off near the bay so had a short walk and she took the kids off to amuse them. Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Walking to the start was great, nice and fresh and as I got the bay, the old feelings of being back at events was there!
The run it’s self was good, great atmosphere at the start, great to see right on the start line, settled those last minute nerves. The first 2km came quick, amazing to see the see of people and felt really emotional!
Back to the crowds in the bay and literally saw my pace pick up on my watch, it’s amazing what energy they give you.
My aim was to get to 4 miles without walking (as most of my training has been around 4 miles but included some walking).
Just before 4 miles I felt a bit like I had a second wind, my breathing was strange, I describe it as not being able to feel it, sometimes I think it’s that I’m not working hard enough, the heart rate disagrees, but I try not to focus on it!
Sorry that got a very long medal Monday, and it’s continued in the comments, if you got this far can you leave me a comment even if just a single emoji in the comments so I can see if anyone actually read it all! 🤣🤣
