A great day at BTST Academy today for the Dry Cupping CPD 💆‍♀️

I will now be offering dry cupping as part of my sports massage treatments from 6th April!

It isn't as scary as it looks. In fact it is GREAT for those people who want a little less pressure but with all the healing benefits of massage.

Dry Cupping promotes blood flow & circulation, reduces inflammation, improves local anaerobic metabolism and so much more.

No, it isn't painful and yes, it will enhance your massage experience☺️

Now the clocks have changed, a few of my clients have mentioned that they're a bit more nervous about running outside on their own.
Unfortunately this is the reality of being a female. BUT here's some tips you may not have thought of to make you safer...

1) Put your location on - Strava, Apple Maps, Find My Phone, Google Maps. Whatever it is, get your location on & get someone to track it.

2) Headphones - don't wear them at all, play your music out loud or if you're like me, and incapable of running without music, only wear one. You'll be more aware of your surroundings and you might even find it more peaceful!

3) Buddy up - there's safety in numbers.
Get a friend/college/neighbour to go running with you or join a running club! This might also help to keep you accountable during the winter months.

4) Change your routes - as lovely as the fields, cliff and rolling hills are around here, they aren't the safest places when it's dark (and slippy)! Pavements & main roads are boring but they're well lit & have more passing traffic.

5) Think about WHEN you run - obviously this is schedule dependant but could you do it at lunch time or a weekend? Not only is it safer but it will also give you that much needed boost of Vitamin D & a de-stress from work.

6) Be SEEN. Wear bright colours & high-vis. Even treat yourself to a head torch if you really want to. It might not be the most fashionable of looks but you're less likely to trip up or get into a collision.
The more you can do to be visible, the better.

Dusted off my boots after 8 years and loved EVERY MINUTE OF IT!

Exercise isn't all about being in a gym, how heavy you can lift, or how far/fast you can run.

I think people forget exercise is meant to be FUN.

What could be more fun than running around a field after an egg-shaped ball on a Sunday afternoon with 14 other mental ladies?🤪

@ has given me an opportunity to ENJOY exercise again. To learn a new skill, meet new people, empower myself & others and channel my "energy" towards a tackle pad 🤣

It doesn't matter if it's dancing around the kitchen, rollerblading in the park, or running around a field covered in bruises and mud.
Whatever you do, it's a LOT easier if you actually ENJOY it.

So here's to trying new & scary things. Here's to keeping pushing yourself. And here's to enjoying every minute of it 💪🏻

Sunday inspiration from my INCREDIBLE client, Mary.

Four weeks ago, Mary completed the South Challenger. WHAT 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 WOMAN 👏🏻.

Here's Mary's story in her own words:

I started working with Sophie in August 2024 not long after I had entered the Spine Challenger South, a 108-mile non-stop endurance race from Edale to Hardraw in Yorkshire.

At 62, I knew I had to work on my weaknesses, one of which, like many runners, was strength. Over the next 9 months, we worked on leg, core & back strength to help me up lots of hills and be able to carry a 6/7 kg pack.

Sophie pushed me places I never thought I could reach, guiding me through 2 sets of injuries. As well as getting stronger, Sophie taught me to believe in myself.
In June this year, I successfully completed the event in 56 hours - the strength training made a huge difference, and my legs were strong all the way through.

I have to say a huge thank you to Sophie, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her if you are training for an event or just want to improve your strength & confidence.

24 miles, 1605m of total elevation gain and 54,000 steps in a total time of 9 hours 22 minutes ⛰️ (moving time was 7hrs 48!)

It's been the best few weeks of sports massage - helping people grow their knowledge about the body and making them more relaxed and out of any discomfort they were experiencing.

Sports massage doesn't have to be scary, and you don't have to be "sporty" to have one.
