Weekly roundup 04/08/2026 πŸ”΄πŸŸ’

Wow, it’s August already, summer is in full swing. The racing action is heating up too, with a busy week from the croups!

We start this week’s roundup in London, last Wednesday where Dylan Nazareth recorded a stellar 14:49 in the Chase the Sun Battersea 5k - absolutely stellar running! πŸ™Œ

Another 5k meet was also seen in Bristol. Gab Stuokus pulled off a great performance, running a brilliant 18:35! πŸ‘

Turning to the weekend, and very much the opposite of a 5k race, Áine Kenny was in action at the Bluestack 50k in Donegal. Áine finished πŸ₯‡ female in a brilliant run, finishing in 5:39:30!

Another great race taking place last weekend was the Hooky 6 miler in the Cotswolds. Steve Chadwell finished in 45:54 a great time over a hilly course and in the heat! πŸ‘

Sunday was also a day for masters athletics racing.

Several croups were in action for Wales, competing against Scotland and England.

Some key highlights from the results were as follows:

Colin Williams firstly competed in the M60 400m, coming home in 60:83, πŸ₯‰ overall.

Kieran McDonnell finished πŸ₯‡ in the M70 800m in 2:43:44

Colin and Kieran both competed in the 200m. Colin finishedπŸ₯‰ in 28:26 in the M60 race, and Kieran πŸ₯ˆ in the M70 race, recording a time of 30:39!

They both then teamed up in the 4x100m M60 relay - Kieran leg 3 and Colin anchor leg. Their team finished πŸ₯ˆ in the race πŸ‘

Finally, in the Llanthony show fell race, we had three runners competing. This is a 6.3km / 3.9 mile race involving 350m of elevation over tough terrain. A huge well done to:

πŸ‘‰ Nat Palmer who finished in 42:38
πŸ‘‰ Clive Osmond finishing in 44:09
πŸ‘‰ Julie Scholey coming home in 59:19

Weekly roundup 22/07/2026 πŸ”΄πŸŸ’

We start our roundup catching up on results from last Wednesday, where members were in action at the Sorbook Tough 10k!

Ryan Pugsley was first back for the club and a brilliant πŸ₯‰ overall on the night in 39:21! Stephen Campbell was back not long after 9th overall in 42:33 πŸ‘ Eve Gallop - Evans was next, finishing the race in 1:01:24! πŸ™Œ

Congratulations too, to Geoff Wright, who finished a brilliant πŸ₯‡ M75 on the night in 1:15:05! πŸ‘

Turning to the weekend, and we had an abundance of croups in action at the Rabbit run in Merthyr Mawr. Here’s a summary of the results:

In the 12k:
Wayne Humphrey’s πŸ₯‡ M50
Alfie Sargeant πŸ₯‰ MU20
Carol Rees 5th F50
Rob Sage 9th M40

On Sunday, James Prosser took a magnificentπŸ₯ˆ overall in the dragon 50 mile coastal ultra. Starting in Kenfig and ending in Cardiff Bay, James tackled dramatic dunes and cliff tops. Absolutely amazing result πŸ‘

It is also worth mentioning that James also completely the Rabbit Run the day before - incredible effort πŸ‘

Last night, we had a couple of croups starring at the British Milers club races in Aberdare!

πŸ‘‰ Ed Foster ran a brilliant 2:01:61 in the 800m
πŸ‘‰ Colin Williams ran a fantastic 2:19:74 in the 800m. This is a seasons best for Colin, and also only 0.19 seconds away from the M60 Welsh record!
πŸ‘‰ Vaughan Edwards ran a storming 4:16:24 in the 1500m

Lastly, but very much not least. We don’t usually do parkrun shoutouts, but this week we make an exception. Emily Fell broke the female course record by almost a minute at Henley Wood parkrun in Oswestry last weekend. She was also the first ever female to P1 in the event. A fantastic achievement πŸ‘
