Fancy climbing something you wouldn’t tackle on your own? 🧗

Ben from Ben Watson | MCI & WML took clients out for a guided day at Polldubh, picking out fun routes they might not have felt ready to climb independently, including Secretaries’ Crack, a lesser-climbed chimney that was perfect for one client who loves chimney climbing indoors.

Sometimes the best way to discover what you’re capable of is to have someone help you push your boundaries.

What happens when women get together to climb? 🧗‍♀️

A look back at the brilliant event — creating a welcoming space to learn new skills, meet other climbers and try something new.

Planned and delivered by Charlie Chambers- Adelong and Westcountry_Adventures - Devon Climbing Coaching, the event covered everything from introductory rock climbing, learning multi pitch, and sport climbing development.

It also gave trainee MCIs valuable opportunities to develop their coaching skills and gain experience ahead of assessment.

More opportunities. More confidence. More adventures.

Well done to all involved!

Ready to take the lead? 🧗

AMI member Sam, from Lake District Mountaineering spent a couple of days earlier in the summer with a group keen to improve their climbing and build their trad knowledge.

From gear placements, anchors and abseiling to lead climbing tactics, movement, clipping and belaying — with plenty of practice taking falls and building confidence above the protection.

A worthwhile reminder to the participants that developing your climbing for bigger adventures is about building skills, judgement and confidence.

What goes into becoming a Mountaineering Instructor? 🏔️

Kevin from Scotch On The Rocks - Mountain Leader Course Provider spent the weekend with trainees helping to prepare them for their Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor award assessments, developing both their personal navigation and his ability to teach these skills, followed by a day of scrambling and mountaineering.

Mentoring is a valuable part of the journey to building the knowledge, judgement and experience needed to lead others in the mountains.
