Bags 2-1 Faversham

Match report from Captain Chrissie
💜💚⚽️
Well, the last game of the season did not disappoint!
We went into the game with no subs as our trusty Tash was injured, but fair pay to her turning up kitted up and willing to jump in if any injuries, along with Trish they were the extra woman giving encouragement and advice from the sidelines.
We had the better of the first half, coming close a few times before Kate sent a lovely cross across the box and I found myself with a bit of space, I hit the ball into the little gap between the keeper and the post for 1-0.
Faversham put up a fight at the end of the second half. They made a lot of changes to put all their stronger players on the pitch but we kept them at bay until half time.
Well the second half was probably our best battle of the season. We went at them, feeling that we could get another goal and knowing that we’d likely need that two goal cushion to stay in the game later on. Soon Into the second half Kate took on a few players with one of her mazy little dribbles and slotted in that little gap again between the keeper and the post for 2-0.
Faversham, as expected came at us, they had some fast, skilful players. They had a few chances, our calm old Franco again stepped up to the plate, making some excellent saves to keep us in it. Faversham scores with about 15 minutes to go.
We had a few more chances, Rafa appeared to have scored from a corner but the ref ruled that it hadn’t crossed the line, Kate and Rafa had a better view and felt it had crossed, but nothing we could do about that. Alex, Kate, Rafa and I all came close to scoring more goals.
Alex put in an absolute shift chasing down their centre midfielder who was pacey, probably Favershams best player today, Alex worked tirelessly and determinedly to keep her at bay.
Hazel and Kels were amazing at the back, again working well together with excellent marking and tackling throughout the game.
We had a frantic last 7 minutes of the game where Faversham were full on attack and we were fully in defensive mode. The whole team defending the last few minutes and battled on for the win. An all round team effort.
Was great to finish the season on a high, 2 points off third place isn’t too shabby a finish.

Well played everyone, not just today but throughout the season. It’s been thoroughly enjoyable! I don’t know what I’m going to do with my sunday evenings now!

Bring on next season ⚽️

Bags 3-3 Bromley
Well, our unbeaten run continues.
We played against a very nice Bromley side who worked hard against us to scrape a point and despite the scoreline, this was an enjoyable, fair battle.
Bromley took the lead early on.
Soon after we forced them into an own goal, I crossed the ball into the box to an awaiting Rafa, a Bromley player stuck a foot out, sending the ball spinning into the back of the net.
A short time later Alex Had a shot that hit a Bromley player and ricocheted past the keeper for 2-1.
Kate then scored a long shot, into the bottom corner for 3-1.
In the second half Bromley battled well and managed to score two more goals and bring it to 3-3.
Both sides battled on and tried to get a winner, it was a frantic battle of the keepers, Franco and the Bromley keeper both making some spectacular saves, Hazel and Kels both making some great tackles and keeping calm, Hazel making a great goal line clearance at the end.
Tash and Alex ran their socks off in the middle of the pitch keeping Bromley’s very skilled and pacey number 11 at bay.
Rafa was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet tonight too.
I know there was a bit of disappointment with the end result tonight, which i think shows how far we have come as a team, but we can’t win them all and and we all put a shift in.
Everyone played amazingly as always!
