✅ A WEEKEND OF HARD FOUGHT GAMES ✅

1ST XI vs NONINGTON🌳
The 1st XI took on Nonington looking to get back into the winner’s circle. Bowling first, the 1’s made a tidy start, removing both openers early and putting Nonington under immediate pressure.

From there, Elliot Lewis and Joe Coleman maintained sustained pressure with the ball to keep Nonington under wraps. The Sri Lankan Stallion, Nimesh Fernando, was also right on the money as Nonington were restricted to 138.

The chase proved to be a tough battle as the pitch deteriorated and Nonington applied plenty of pressure with the ball. However, James Morton once again stood tall, finishing unbeaten on 67*, with Rahul Krishnakumar supporting him with 14* as the 1st XI got over the line.

2ND XI vs ELHAM VALLEY🌳
The 2nd XI faced Elham Valley for the second time this season. They did well to restrict the visitors to 147 from their 40 overs, thanks to some very tidy spells from the experienced James Chamberlain and Phil Marsh.

The chase started positively, with 🪑 Kevin Hopper and vice-chair James Chamberlain scoring 34 and 41 respectively. However, a spirited Elham Valley fightback took the game down to the final wicket and last over.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for the 2s, as Elham held their nerve to take the win.

SUNDAY XI vs BORDEN🌳
The Sunday XI picked up their first win of the season with an impressive victory over Borden.

Batting first, they came under pressure early, slipping to 21/3. Young gun Rahul Krishnakumar and Ando steadied the innings and laid the platform for the middle order, helping the side post a competitive 263.

The bowlers had to remain patient during the chase as Borden came out of the blocks quickly, matching the required run rate in the early overs. However, disciplined bowling and a constant flow of wickets eventually proved too much, as the Sunday XI secured a well-deserved victory.

The 1’s are back at home to take on Nonington. The 2’s travel to Elham Valley for the second time this season, and the Sunday XI host Borden at the field of dreams (Street End Cricket Club)

🌳2’S CAN HANDLE THE HEAT🌳
Another weekend down in some challenging but great conditions ☀️

1ST XI VS BAPCHILD🌳
The 1’s were on the wrong end of the result again this weekend. Bowling first at bapchild rhey good off to a good start with the Goldbacher/Anderson combo paying dividends early. However it became apparent that once the ball got older scoring became easy, and Bapchild put together a tidy 220. Big well done to Joe Coleman for a tidy 9 over spell in the heat💪🐶. The 2nd innings start similarly as top order wickets fell cheaply, put the Enders under immense pressure. James Morton grinded out a gutsy 59. However the 1’s were unable to build partnerships and were dealt a tough loss.

2ND XI VS RECULVER🌳
The 2’s continued their good run with a nail biting win over Reculver. Batting first they set up a tidy 209, which was led my Street Ends own Geoff Boycott - Hugh Gibbs Brown (91*) and well supported by new club member Jamie O’Connell (49). Reculver put in a great effort with the bat and the game was sat on a knife edge throughout the 2nd innings. However at the death Jadav and James were able to keep their nerve and discipline as the 2’s took home the bacon 💪

The 1’s travel away to Bapchild as they look to bounce back from last week’s result. The 2’s are hosting Reculver at home as the look to continue their winning momentum🏏🤝
