This morning we dedicated the session to the great women who give their free time to support the growth of our small club! Without these people we would not be able to operate the way we do!
We wish them all, and everybody seeing this post a very happy National Women’s day 2026!!

Ending our year on a bang!
Unforeseen weather forecasts meant that we could not host our annual festive row at Christmas time, so we settled for the next best thing, new years!
Spitfire Boat Club wishes all of our club members, and everybody who is seeing this a wonderful new years. We look forward to seeing what 2026 brings us!

We held our annual Christmas party at the Dog and Duck last Saturday! 23 Spitfire members joined, with an added extra of a Learn To Row member!
Times like these help us reflect on the great year we have had as a club and is always a key indicator of the growth we experienced.
Thank you to all who attended, and we will thrive for even more into 2026!

And that's a wrap! Thank you .est.1865 for hosting us, we had a blast! And thank you
for the opposition too😎

This was a pretty historical moment in our club for having not one, but TWO eights at an event! Plus our very first junior quad! The firsts didn't stop there, with Tasha racing for the very first time in a sweep oar boat, and James and Kirsty steering coxless boats in races for the first time!

Great job, everyone, and the weather was also significantly better than expected! 😊

Full report to land on our website in the coming days.

Thanks Tash, Marlene, Michèle and Lee for the pictures!

Saturday, 3rd August 2025, saw Spitfire attend Sudbury International Regatta. One of our highlights of each year. We had no composite crews this year as 6 racers went, with one extra attendee spectating.
Results:
Op.2x. (Challenger) : A very narrow second place for and James in the final, after having beaten their semi final rivals by over two lengths.
W.2x. (Novice): A straight final which was sadly lost by a much more experienced crew than ours.
Op.2x. (PC16): Another straight final, which was lost to a very strong and composed crew.
Op.J16.1x. (Challenger): took his first ever race in a single and was narrowly defeated by a very talented sculler from Newark.
Mx.MasA/B.2x: Our last event of the day was Manny and Briony in the Master’s double sculls, ‘easily’ winning their semi final heat. Also winning their final against leander ‘easily.

As a club we thank for hosting us again this year, and we are so proud of our racers this year, taking home more trophies from Suffolk. We will be back next year!
Our next event is Lea Autumn Regatta on the last day of the month!

Thursday 19th June was a special occasion for Spitfire. In cooperation with RALPHH, we received a defibrillator, which not only will support our club, but the mooring holders and fishers nearby.

RALPHH was set up in memory of Robert Allen who died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 35. RALPHH raises money to purchase defibrillators, provide funds for ECG screening & provides a sign post towards healthier living after sport.

To mark the occasion, the club held a barbecue, which was put together by the wonderful Ben and Marlene. We also had Enzo the Springer Spaniel to celebrate the event (although it was a little bit warm for him!)

The charity is still open for donations, our JustGiving page can be found here:

The blustery conditions meant we could not get out on the water this morning, but we have made good use of the time - be it by trimming down vegetation to allow for more racking or performing much needed boat maintenance. Well done to all who came down this morning to help out!
