Race report from Olivers mount
Safe to say im glad ive got the balls to go try this place! What a weekend of racing π
The whole thing start to finish has been insane from doing a newcomer track walk with Peter Hickman (who i must say him & his mechanic were absolute gents, good convo with everyone etc whilst we did the walkround to help in the paddock)
First laps round there and my head was all over the shop, bike not feeling how i wanted and just overall unhappy with performance.
Some advice and chats with some of the other racers and we did few tweaks gave head a wobble and went out knocking 11 seconds off, more like it π
Into qualifying and feeling bit better knocking further 7 seconds of the lap time and starting to feel comfier on the bike.
Race 1 - We qualified and started p18, start was abit off but we got through mere clean and head down to get the laps in. good race and finished happy to have completed this unreal course in one piece P5 in class.
Race 2 - Mere did its thing resulting in 2/3 bikes down dodging them like it was something out of squid game managing to get through and on the back of Ricky who i knew was faster than me by abit so i hooked on best i could to try let him pull me along. Great first few laps and with Rickys crash saturday slowing him up abit I took the opurtunity and got past then gave it all i could as the last lap flag come out, made an absolute mess of the last lap, wide false neutrals you name it but just managed to hold on to a P10 finish overall and P5 in class.
Race 3 - last race of the day sunday, with the heat etc it was a killer wait, after few tweaks to the setup again and head in a good space we went out got off the line okay but not great (starts on the 400 definantly somehting to be worked on) then went on to chase the other 400 newcomer paul and after a lap i managed to get round to then consistantly put in my fastest laps of the weekend, P12 overall P5 in class again π
Absolutly mega weekend couldnt have done in it without the support and help from family & friends
