Things have calmed down tonight—fewer people and much less wind, aside from the occasional gust. A few of our volunteers think they spotted a Minke whale right in front of the rescue boat! I’m absolutely gutted that I missed it, though. 🐋 🐋 🐋 🐋 🐋 🐋

⛵ What a Splash! First Night of Dinghy Sailing

What a way to kick off the season! It was a fabulous first night out on the water for Campbeltown Sailing Club.

While the conditions were a bit blustery (to say the least!), the wind didn't dampen anyone's spirits. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces tackling the gusts and enjoying the thrill of the Loch. The energy was top-notch!

🙌 A Huge Thank You

Events like these don't just happen on their own. A massive shout-out to our dedicated volunteers who kept everything running smoothly and safely:

We couldn't do it without your time, expertise, and help on the safety boat and shore.

Next Session: Keep an eye on the group for weather updates. We can't wait to see you all back out there for more!

🌊 Local Talent Makes a Splash! ⛵

We are absolutely blown away by the creativity over at Drumlemble Primary School!

After a recent visit where we chatted with the students about everything Campbeltown Sailing Club has to offer—from the thrill of the water to the lifelong skills of navigation and teamwork—the children put pen to paper to design a poster for us.

Why we love it:

Community Spirit: Seeing the club through the eyes of our local youth is incredibly inspiring.

Future Sailors: The enthusiasm for getting out on the water was clear in every drawing!

Creative Flair: They captured the essence of CSC perfectly.

We want to say a massive thank you to the pupils and staff at Drumlemble for such a warm welcome and for this fantastic piece of art. It’s a wonderful reminder that sailing is for everyone, whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting to find your sea legs.

Notice of Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) and Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Following the lack of quorum at last week's AGM, we have scheduled a new combined meeting.

The purpose of the EGM is to vote on a crucial motion that would reduce the required quorum and permit remote attendance for future meetings. This will be immediately followed by the AGM.

Date: Thursday, 5th March 2026

Time: 7:00 PM

Location: Campbeltown Sailing Club

💻 Remote Attendance and Motion Details
If the motion is approved at the EGM, members will be able to attend the AGM remotely. A meeting link will be sent to those who advise they wish to attend virtually.

📝 RSVP and Attendance Confirmation
Please confirm your attendance or submit your apologies by replying to this email.

If you plan to attend remotely, please state this in your reply.

A reminder, along with the meeting link (for remote attendees) and supporting documentation, will be distributed closer to the date.

Motion

The committee proposes to amend the club constitution as follows in order to allow the possibility of remote (e.g. by Zoom or MS Teams) attendance at committee meetings and at General Meetings of the Club, and to reduce the quorum for meetings of the club from 12 to 8. The club as at December 2024 has 22 adult/senior members who are eligible to vote at club meetings. A quorum of 8 would be in excess of one third of currently eligible members.

Rule 39 to be amended to read as follows:

Section 4 - Committee

Quorum

39 Five members present either in person or remotely via video/ telephone conference shall form a quorum of the Committee.

Rule 56 to be amended to read as follows:

Section 5 – Meetings of the Club

Quorum at Meetings

56 Eight members entitled to vote and present either in person or remotely via video/ telephone conference shall form a quorum at any meeting of the Club.

Many thanks Tracy

Hello Members,

We hope you thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Campbeltown Sailing Club in 2025!

It's now time to renew your membership for the 2026 season. You can complete your renewal via the link below:

https://forms.gle/vq7jow4y8h5MbA3z9
Please take a few moments to fill out the attached form as well as making your payment. This step is vital! Without a completed form, we don't have your current details, which means you could miss out on important club news and event invitations—as some members unfortunately did last year. The form is quick and simple, but if you need any help completing it, just let us know!

The deadline for membership forms and payment is Wednesday, January 21st, 2026.

We're already planning great social events and plenty of sailing time for 2026 and can't wait to see you there! We also love hearing your ideas, so please share any suggestions you have for improving the club.

Best wishes,

The CSC Team
