Last week our Triple of Jamie McPhee, Rafi Jonas and Max Grumoli were runners up in the SYBA U18s Qualifier at Campbeltown BC.

A great effort from them to make it through to the final and to come home with a silver medal, beating some strong opposition on their way to the final.

Last night saw our Gents Pair play in the District Semi Final at Cove and Kilcreggan BC. Delighted to say that John and Gavin McLachlan came through as 21-12 winners, although the scoreline doesn't properly reflect how close a game it was.

So John and Gavin now play in the District Final next Thursday and we wish them all the best. A victory next week would see them qualify for the Scottish National Championships in Ayr.

Best wishes also to the Single and Triple of Campbeltown Bowling Club as they also play in the District Final next week. Yet another year of strong representation from the Wee Toon at the finals.

Despite the intermittent downpours, a strong turnout of 16 pairs took part in the Club's 3 Bowl Pairs competition today.

Playing in 2 groups of 8, the top 2 from each group would go through to the semi finals. Group A saw winners Julie Rankin and John McLatchie go through with runners up Ashleigh Connor and Gavin McLachlan. In Group B it was Poppie Lawson and David Reid who topped the group, with Rafi Jonas and Bobby Mathieson taking 2nd place.

In the semis, Bobby and Rafi were comfortable winners over John and Julie. A closer game in the other semi saw Gavin and Ashleigh win 5-4 over David and Poppie.

The final saw Bobby and Rafi take 1 shot in the first end before Gavin and Ashleigh took the next 4 ends to hold a 5-1 lead going into the final end, which could only be reduced to 5-2 meaning it was Gavin and Ashleigh who came out as winners.

Thank you to everyone who took part today and to all those who helped out in the bar and kitchen.

Members please note the next competition, the 2 Bowl Triples, has been pushed back to Sunday 21st June instead of the 14th. A new sheet is up on the wall so could all members wishing to play please re-enter their names.

This week saw the latest round of Scottish Ties being played.

Results over the last couple of weeks have seen our Pair of John McLachlan and Gavin McLachlan (S) make it through to the district semi final to be played at Cove on the 11th June. Well done to both of them making it through a very close game against Campbeltown Bowling Club with the final score 21-20.

It wasn't to be for our other teams unfortunately, with our Singles player Iain McMillan defeated 21-13 by Lee Allen of CBC and our Triple of David Reid, Gary Grumoli and Shaun Grumoli losing to Tarbert.

Fours lost last week to CBC and our Senior Fours to Ardrishaig yesterday. Earlier in the week, the Mixed Pair of Donnie and Poppie Lawson made their debut but were also defeated by Jimmy and Shona Anderson of CBC.

Best of luck to John and Gavin next week and to all other players representing our area in the District Semi Finals.
