Camelford BC Weekly Round-Up

Another busy week for Camelford BC with plenty of action across league and county competitions.

Monday saw the Camelford B Team secure a 3-2 victory over Bude in the Men's B League.

Tuesday evening Saltash travelled to Camelford for an ECBL fixture. Despite a cooling breeze as the evening progressed, Camelford finishing on the wrong end of a 1-6 defeat.

Thursday saw the A Team travel to Bodmin in Division One. On a chilly evening, Bodmin proved too strong and took the points with a 55-34 victory.

Sunday was a much better day for the club. The Ladies successfully defended their Top Club title at Dunheved, winning 3 disciplines to 2 to progress to the next round. Congratulations to all involved.

There was also success in the County Mixed Pairs, with Andrew & Zoe defeating a Wadebridge pairing, while Gill & Mark narrowly missed out against Looe. Nick was beaten by Nick Trewin in the Champion of Champions Singles.

A special congratulations to Lee Rowland, who qualified for the County Two-Bowl Singles Quarter Finals with a 16-7 victory over James Bickle at Bodmin. Lee now heads to Wadebridge on 28th June looking for a place in the semi-finals.

Well played to everyone representing Camelford BC this week.

🏆 **Camelford BC Weekly Round-Up**

A busy week on and off the green for Camelford BC.

The week started with a Captain's Shield Play-Off defeat to Porthleven and a Club Two Fours defeat to Stenalees ending our hopes in these competitions. Alyson & Nick were also beaten in the Bowls England Mixed Pairs by a strong Stenalees pairing. Meanwhile Zoe Barnard-Rowland recorded an impressive 21-8 victory in the National Champion of Champions away at Stenalees.

There was success for the Camelford B Team, who recorded an excellent 4-1 win over Wadebridge, while Gill Jennings retained the Secretary's Cup for the second year running with a superb victory over Judith Prime of Kensey Vale in the final.

The A Team suffered a 1-4 County League defeat to Bude, but Lee & Zoe produced one of the comebacks of the week, recovering from five shots down on the final end to defeat Wadebridge 20-18 after an extra end.

Friday brought more good news as Rita & Ma progressed in the Golden Years competition with a convincing 20-10 win over Kensey Vale.

The Ladies were unfortunately beaten away at Dunheved in the Captain's Shield on Saturday, but Sunday saw Lee Rowland progress to the Cornwall Two-Bowl Singles Last 32 and qualify for next Sunday's Group Finals Day at Bodmin.

Well played to everyone representing Camelford BC this week, and good luck to those still competing in county and national competitions. 🎳

Weekly Round-Up – Camelford Bowling Club

After poor weather caused Monday and Tuesday fixtures to be called off, the action returned midweek with some tough but competitive encounters.

However last Sunday saw Andrew Piper & Nick Holmes compete in the Men’s County Pairs Area Semi-Final at Wadebridge, losing to the strong and experienced Liskeard pairing of Karl Barrett & Adam Fuller, who went on to become the eventual group winners. Andrew played particularly well throughout against relentless pressure on the jack.

Nick Holmes teaming up with Chris Jennings faced the same Liskeard duo in the Bowls England Over-60s Pairs midweek. Despite the 6–23 defeat, it proved a valuable experience against two outstanding bowlers and a real masterclass in drawing.

Wednesday evening brought an excellent 6–1 ECBL victory away at Lostwithiel on a calm, dry evening, with Camelford producing a strong all-round team performance.

Thursday saw the Men's A Team travel to Wadebridge on a beautiful evening, but despite one dominant winning rink, Camelford came away on the wrong side of a 1–4 result.

Friday featured the rearranged Men’s Top Club cup match against Kensey Vale. Conditions stayed warm despite overcast skies, but Camelford fell to a 1–4 defeat in several hard-fought contests. The Pairs secured the club’s point with a strong win against Jiggens & D’Agostino.

Well played to everyone representing Camelford BC during another busy week on the green.
