After 8 incredibly proud and memorable years as Junior Convenor and Director of Youth Rugby at Cambuslang, the time feels right to step back from the role as part of our succession planning.
I will however continue to support the junior committee over the next 12 months as we keep building for the future along with continuing to coach and support our U18 boys squad as they prepare for another amazing season ahead.
It has been an incredible journey and one I will always look back on with huge pride. Together we have seen amazing growth in participation in our community to record levels, helped create and develop girls' rugby at Cambuslang, reaching the peak of National champions within 4 years, and watched our boys section flourish, reaching National League level for the first time ever at U16 and U18 (this coming season).
Behind that has been more than 5000 Facebook posts, 6,500 rugby content pictures, 34 award submissions, raising funds and countless hours of work, all driven by a simple belief that our young people deserve the very best experience, opportunities and support we can give them.
To every coach, volunteer, parent, committee member and player, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Everything we have achieved has only been possible because of your time, your energy and your belief in what this club can be.
I am also delighted that Andy Dick has agreed to take on the role as we move into next season and beyond, I know he will do a fantastic job.
Have a great summer and see everyone for our 50th Year of Junior Rugby starting in August!
Yours in Rugby
Barney
