Roller Derby Fitness

Roller Derby Fitness Personal training, programming and nutritional advice for roller derby skaters of all levels. We are both personal trainers and roller derby skaters. Not quite.

We are Slaps and Lisp and we are the women behind Roller Derby Fitness. We both play for the Romsey Town Rollerbillies and have been playing roller derby, Lisp as a jammer and Slaps as a blocker for the last 6 and 5 years respectively. Both of us are active coaches at all levels within our league. This experience has given us an insight into the training needs of jammers, blockers, people learning

to skate and people learning to play derby.

We both work hard on and off skates to be the best skaters we can be and more importantly to look after our bodies to try and prepare them and protect them from all the stresses and strains roller derby puts on it. If you want to a functioning healthy human, with hips and knees that work when you're older and wiser then you should too! Here's the essentials you need to think about:
- Strength
- Endurance
- Aerobic capacity
- Stability
- Flexibility
- Mental toughness

Simple right? Do some squats, run and cycle, stretch often and read some 'how to be mentally strong articles'. Whether you have a roller derby career, play on your national team or are learning to skate you have different needs to the rest of your team mates. You are an individual, you have different physical and mental needs but also time constraints. You want to get the most out of your off skates training and therefore on skates training but don't know where to get started, or need some help with what you're doing already or are simply stuck in one of those plateaus that happen every once in a while. Well we have the answer, talk to us!
