Over Running Festival

WOW, what a weekend.

Now that the dust has settled and I have been able to take a little bit of time to evaluate, I think it is fair to say that the inaugural Over Running Festival was a success. Of course there are things that did not go as smoothly as we would have hoped, but we will take it all away and work on ahead of next years event.

Big thanks to Tracy and her team at Over Community Centre, they were absolutely fantastic with us all weekend, without them the event would not have been able to take place. Also, massive well done on the Fun Day, it was brilliant.

Another huge thanks goes to all friends, family & strangers that offered their support throughout the event, the encouragement (and sweets) really do make a massive difference.

Finally, and most importantly, a MASSIVE thank you to all the runners. Whether you completed the 5k, the 10k or the 24 hour event, you made this weekend a success! The weather, whilst lovely, added an extra complication when it came to running, but everyone got on with it.

Today's the day we get under way. From midday Over Community Centre we will have a group of wonderful humans attempting to complete a 24 hour Ultra-Marathon, then tomorrow even more fantastic people take on the 10km & 5km runs.

Good Morning, as we enter into our final week of preparations here is some key information for the event:

Location: Over Community Centre
Date: 13th-14th June
Start times:
24 hour endurance- Midday Friday 13th
10km - 12:15 Saturday 14th
5km - 12:30 Saturday 14th

FAQ's
Will there be a kettle available for 24hr runners? Yes, we will have a kettle available to us in our area at Over Community Centre

Will there be showers available for 24hr runners? Yes, the team at Over Community Centre have kindly agreed for the changing rooms to be available to runners.

Will there be somewhere for 24hr runners to sleep? Yes, we will have an area where people can sleep

What will be provided for 24hr runners? Currently this is a self-sufficient event. Whilst we are working to try and have some supplies donated, we suggest you bring what you believe you will need with you.

What are the age restrictions? The 24hr & 10km runs have a minimum age of 16 due to the runs taking place on the roads & paths around Over. The 5km run is open for all providing they can complete the distance. All children are to be supervised/monitored by a parent or guardian.

How do the run distances work? The 24hr run requires all participants to complete a minimum of 10 laps of the 5km course.
The 10km run requires all participants to complete 2 laps of the 5km course
The 5km run requires participants to complete 20 laps of the Over Community Centre field.

How will the money raised be split? All funds raised will be shared equally between our 5 beneficiaries

Can we support runners? Of course, we encourage as much support as possible
