With Cambridge heading into peak cycling, running and triathlon season, Iโm seeing a lot of people trying to train through injuries in the hope theyโll โjust go awayโ.
Whether youโre preparing for a 10k, marathon, triathlon, cycling sportive, Hyrox event, or simply trying to stay active, persistent pain is often a sign that something needs addressing rather than ignoring.
Some of the most common issues I see include:
๐ Running-related knee pain
๐ Achilles and calf injuries
๐ด Cycling-related neck and back pain
๐โโ๏ธ Hip pain and tendon problems
๐๏ธ Gym and strength training injuries
โฝ Sports injuries and rehabilitation
The good news is that many of these problems can be managed effectively with the right advice, load management and rehabilitation programme.
Iโm James, a Chartered Physiotherapist based at Lift Fitness in East Cambridge, just off Newmarket Road. I have over 9 years of experience working in both NHS and private practice settings and help people return to sport, work and everyday activities following injury.
