What a lovely day at Milton Country Park today! 420 of you turned out today as the sun finally came out to help celebrate Parkrun put on it's 1 millionth event this weekend.

Today was the highest turnout since we switched to the new course in 2023 😮. Well done to the 16 of you joining us for the first-time - hope to see you again next week! And of course thank you to the lovely 28 people featured below who helped make the whole thing happen - if you can help out next week do drop us a comment.

Well. It's Thursday - and you lovely lot have stepped up and made sure we can put a Parkrun on! We've got one or two spots left:

- A couple more marshals
- Sign language support (are you proficient in BSL?)

So if you can help with either of those do drop us a message. We'd also love people to consider volunteering for the 20th - it really does make life easier for the co-ordinating team to have early volunteers ☺️

Come along on Saturday - enjoy the (hopefully) brighter weather - and help us celebrate the one millionth parkrun being run somewhere this weekend!

This weekend will see the one millionth parkrun happen! Since parkrun began on that autumn morning in October 2004, over 8.3 million people have taken part in parkrun, and more than one million different people have volunteered. That adds up to parkrunners crossing the finish line 138 million times, and more than 16 million volunteering moments helping to bring events to life each week.
Join us for a walk/run or volunteer!

We've been very slack lately with our run reports and summaries, but here's 2 in 1 just in time for the bank holiday weekend heatwave.

The run report is from 16th May, written by Louise from Diamond Runners. It's worth a read for the 5k your way shout out. https://www.parkrun.org.uk/miltoncountry/news/

Also the below summary from 23rd May. Thanks to all our new volunteers and well done to all our milestone achievers and PB runners!

The roster is looking fab for this week, so see you all for the first timers briefing around 8:50 and full briefing just before 9. Coffee/tea/snacks at grounds cafe after?

Great news! The car park is now pay on exit

Following lots of customer feedback about the parking machine in our car park, we’re pleased to let you know that we have removed the old machine and have now installed two brand-new machines with a much simpler pay-on-exit system.

The new machines are easier to use, quicker, and designed to make parking more convenient for everyone. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their feedback — we really appreciate it and are always looking at ways to improve your experience with us.

Milton Country parkrun event #672 – the one where we only took one uninspired photo 😂 (see comments for our amazing photo!)

Firstly, well done to Andrew (RD this week) who managed to deliver the run briefing without the aid of a microphone. A quick reminder to everyone - please listen to the run briefing every week. Not only is it important to help keep everyone safe but it’s also part of the parkrun ethos where we celebrate runners and volunteer’s achievements. Thank you!

It felt like an almost perfect morning in the park this morning; sunny but not too hot, dry underfoot but not yet dusty. A great morning to welcome the 11 of you that completed your very first parkrun – well done. Congratulations also to James on his 10th, Megan and Natalie on their 25th and Joseph on his 100th. Shoutout also to Mike Joycroft, who is a regular at Milton and completed his 350th run. He overtook me today pushing a double buggy with 4-year-olds in while trying to keep up alongside a speedy Maddy (who it looks like she sprinted off and left him for dust on the finish straight!).

Congratulations to the 54 of you who ran a personal best this week. Special mentions to Kate and James, from Norfolk Gazelles AC, who both grabbed a PB of 27:29! Well done to everyone who got a PB of any sort this week – be it the return to running PB, the post injury or post child PB or even a buggy running PB, they all count in my book!

Finally, thank you to the 22 hi-vis heroes this week. There are lots of empty spots on the roster over the next few weeks. If you haven’t yet supported Milton Country Parkrun in a non-running role so far this year, why not grab the opportunity now?

Have a great week everyone,

Julia your dyslexic run reporter
