M1 U75kg World Champion 🥇

Sounds good doesn’t it!

This is a belated post as we’ve been having the time of our lives in Yellowstone National Park!

This has been my first season as a 40 year old Masters powerlifter and I don’t think it could have gone any better:

ABPU Powerlifting Games 🥇 - Nottingham Oct 2024
ABPU British Championships 🥇 - Manchester July 2025
AWPC World Championships 🥇 - Idaho Falls Aug 2025

My performance at the World Championships was my best ever with a squat, bench and an overall total PB!

I had 5 weeks post-British Championships to get ready. It was the shortest prep I’ve had, the most injured I’ve felt and I’ve had to factor in jet lag, time differences and lifting in a completely different country.

Adrenaline, determination and executing a plan devised by my coach Adam Riman got me through it. My body has been on the brink of breaking down for a few weeks so I’m embracing this upcoming off-season rest time!

I weighed in 73.7kg.

Squat:
162.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
172.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
175kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - comp PB - with hindsight should have gone higher

Bench:
90kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
97.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
102.5kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️ - comp PB - this was the best lift as I felt I had so much more

Deadlift:
170kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
190kg ⚪️⚪️⚪️
200kg 🔴🔴🔴 - the one that got away and the only disappointment I had on the day

Total:
467.5kg +5kg PB

I don’t know how I’m going to top this season but let’s see what 2026 has in store 💪🏼

From stepping into NW Fitness Studio nervously, sheepishly and quietly back in January 2022 to stepping out onto the powerlifting platform confidently, assured and determined and delivering a sensational performance in June 2025!

Stephen’s transformation has been one I’m very proud of 🫶🏼

He has not only changed physically, dropping over 10kg, but he has grown in confidence in every aspect of his life.

I was honoured to be by his side at his first regional competition and help to push him to achieve what he wanted…and more!

We made a deal back in December 2024 that if he won our in-house powerlifting competition (for the second time I may add) that he would enter a regional competition and there’s no better place to start than at Nottingham Strong. He won, he delivered on his promise, he even bought a singlet, he achieved 9/9 successful lifts and hit personal bests…this may be just the start!

WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFICATION! 🌎

65 year old client Adrian competed today at the ABPU British Powerlifting Single-Lift Championships in Bolton…

He finished in 2nd place in M6 Bench with a competition PB, a national record (which was subsequently beaten by the overall winner) AND he’s qualified for the World Championships in November in South Africa 🇿🇦🤩

Not a bad day at the office from Adrian! 🥈

Immensely proud 🥹

P.s. Anyone know of anything good to see in South Africa? 😏

Let’s go!

A feel good deadlift session! 💪🏼

Deadlifts can be hit or miss, today they were a hit.

175kg x 3 and a 170kg single with a 10 second hold at lockout! That was new 🔥

That rounds off an intensive but enjoyable week of training!

Now for a rare Bank holiday weekend off with 🙂
