CCHC : Cambridge City Hockey Club

CCHC : Cambridge City Hockey Club CCHC is the premier club in Cambridge and the surrounding area. We deliver national league standard to participation level.

We have 7 mens teams, 6 womens & the biggest junior section in the East of England. All supported by a vibrant social scene! Supported by BDB Pitmans we take great pride in the coaching across our club, ensuring premier standard facilities are complimented by elite coaches. Our Ladies 1s XI are coached by Great Britain and England legend, Rio Olympic Champion, Helen Richardson-Walsh MBE. Our men a

re coached by multiple time domestic champion, former England international and EHL veteran Gareth Andrew. Our junior section is lead by Grant Gilmour, an experienced national league player with a passion for advancing talent across the club. All senior teams have a number of former national league or international players / coaches in the squad to ensure players develop and are in the right team. All teams benefit from high quality coaching. We are very proud of the umpires we have helped develop and welcome a number to the club with no playing ties who simply wish to advance their game with the whistle. In club we have some umpire coaches available and enjoy a great relationship with both the county and regional umpire association to help promote talent. In the summer we deliver more relaxed social hockey where all standards are welcome. We ask that nobody hits the ball and that beginners are given the space to develop and enjoy their game. Flyerz, or Para hockey, is vital to the club and we deliver sessions regularly to ensure our game is open to all. Alongside this we launched Walking Hockey in the 2020/21 season to make hockey accessible to those with mobility issues or who simply want to enjoy the game at a more leisurely pace. Finally the Friday Freestylerz deliver hockey for adults in the morning after school drop off time, open to all this is another great way to enter the game at a more relaxed pace.

Thank you very much for a lovely game of Summer 7s!

Yesterday evening at the Olympic Dave Arena, under the intense sunshine six weeks of hockey reached its scorching climax.

The Pinks came out on top with an incredible 33 points from a possible 33! Second place went to the Greens on 20 and yellows finished third one point behind them.

A massive thanks to Rhi who organised this all, wore her voice out each week shouting at us and perplexed us all with her weird orange hand whistle thing. Without her incredible hard work this would not have happened!

This coming week the 11s starts up. We have a few first timers, so if you’re keen let us know in the DMs!

🔥It's Week 6 🔥

The final chapter of this year’s Summer 7's and what a run it’s been.

From the first push-back to now, it’s been great to see the energy, commitment and enjoyment every week. Whether you’ve played every game, stepped in when needed, or come along to support, you’ve all helped make it another brilliant event at the club.

Massive shout out to Rhi for making it happen!

This final week is all about finishing strong, playing with intensity, supporting each other and making subtle preparations for the Summer 11's!

A big thank you to everyone who’s taken part, helped organise and supported behind the scenes. This stuff doesn't happen without volunteers so please think about how you might be able to chip in and help out.

Good luck to Cambridge City Old Boy Euan Gilmour who makes his senior international debut this week for Scotland. Euan is part of an exciting Scottish team hoping to take the FIH Nations Cup home.

Euan is widely regarded as one of the most talented players in the English Premier League, currently playing for Wimbledon. He has also played professionally in Spain and Belgium.

He’s an extremely down to earth guy who lights the pitch on fire every time he takes to the turf.

Club Chair Simon Webb said: “It’s a delight to see Euan reach this milestone. It’s been a pleasure to see him grow from being an emerging talent in our 3rd XI to one of the most feared players in the prem. I am sure the club joins me in wishing him well in this tournament, that he enjoys the experience and that many more caps are on the horizon!”

𝑺𝒖𝒎𝒎𝒆𝒓 7'𝒔 𝑾𝒆𝒆𝒌 5 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚…

It’s all feeling a bit more “Group Stage Decider” than “a Run in the Sun.”

The early optimism, questionable fitness claims and bold pre-season predictions have now been replaced by tactical discussions, suspiciously convenient “tight hamstrings” and an increasing awareness of the table 😉

Some teams are hitting their stride at just the right time. Others are still insisting they’re “building nicely” (despite the evidence). And somewhere in the middle, there’s a lot of hockey being played with varying degrees of control and coordination.

Now in the group stage, every pass, press and pint suddenly matters just that little bit more.

The drama continues on Thursday. Warm up 18:50 Push Back 19:00

🔥Congratulations to our very own Chanré Bond 🔥

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

TO OUR FAMILY & FRIENDS

What a weekend. What a team. What a result. 🏑🏆

A huge thank you to all our family, friends, supporters, and volunteers who stood behind us every step of the way. Driving hours to training sessions, supporting on rainy days, cutting holidays short, missing birthdays and celebrations…… some of the sacrifices you have made so we as players, can play. Can win! 🥇

Your encouragement, messages, cheers from the sidelines, and unwavering belief in us made all the difference.

Success on the pitch is never just about the players wearing the shirt. It's built on the support network behind them – the families who sacrifice time, the friends who travel miles, and the supporters who lift us when we need it most.

This victory belongs to all of you as much as it does to the team.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We are incredibly proud to represent you all and grateful for every bit of support along the way.

Together we achieved something special. ❤️🤍

It’s Summer 7’s Week 4… and things are getting suspicious.

Latest findings:
❗️Confidence is now completely detached from ability
✅New skills are being unveiled that no coach recalls approving
❗️Defending has progressed from “optional” to “sporadically enthusiastic”
✅Passes are finding teammates with almost alarming frequency
❗️Several players now know each other’s names

Rumours of tactics emerging. Unconfirmed. Possibly fake news.

Situation developing. Witnesses required. See you there tonight!

The Royal Mint have today announced the release of a rare, special edition £20 note known as the 'Tippen Twenty.' This striking and highly collectable note celebrates successful women in sport. Rarer than a 'Chairman's Round' 🍺 the Tippen Twenty has been highlighted by collectors as the most significant release in the last century and worth well above it's face value.

If you find one, do let the Club know!!
