Barton Bowls Club Barton Bowls Club near Cambridge is a small friendly lawn green bowls club with an active fixture list and social event calendar.

We were promoted to Cambridge & District Division 1 for 2026, so we welcome any new members who wish to join our ranks. Local Village Bowls Club welcomes new members

Barton is on a roll. We managed to beat Gt Chesterford this evening on their turf 70:65 (5:2). It was a close match but we pipped it at the end. Hopefully we are now moving up the chart 😃

We played Needingworth tonight away. They are league leaders in Division 1. Very happy to report we won the match 66:53 (6:1). Valuable points for us. Well done team! Particular thanks to Judith and James who stepped in last minute and performed very well.

Couple of good BHL Open games back to back. Yesterday we managed a win at home against Alex Beehive 37:30 (4:2) and tonight away at Balsham all was well till the last end when we lost a 4 on our rink. That meant a draw 30:30 (3:3). A great game though enjoyed by all.

Good game for Barton tonight in the Kenzie Cup competition. We won our game against Barrington 60:51 - a close fought game. Through to the next round now of the Cup.

A very happy team tonight following our first win in Division 1. It was a close match but we won 66:60 (5.5:1.5). Well done everyone, good show.

We put up a good effort at Sawston tonight in C&D. Sadly we lost 2, won 2, but only 5 shots in it. 53:58 (2:5)

Played Melbourn BC today in FML. We won a rink, drew a rink and lost a rink - full house! Only 8 shots in it. We lost 42:50 (1.5:3.5)

A well attended club night today. Clinton Tweed, England Bowls Coach, came over to coach 5 new novices who tried out at the recent open day.
Some real talent there. Good to see members practicing for upcoming games on the other rinks. Still an opportunity if you missed the open day. Pop along on Tuesday mornings at 10am or Thursday evenings at 6pm to have a go - there will be someone ready to show you the ropes.

A lovely sunny day today saw lots of members turn out to support the club open day. We had 5 new bodies who have been bitten by the bug of bowling and hopefully plan to return for another bite of the cherry! Thanks to Ken G for laying on refreshments in the pavilion and to Anna for running the kiddies target bowls. Also to Laureen for taking over coaching while Margaret concentrated on a latecomers training. Time flew by and everybody enjoyed the day.
