Cambridge City Under 13s came away with a fantastic win against Oxford today. This was our second cup game, our second JPL fixture, and our second win, with goals from Laia and Nova securing a strong 6–1 result.
At JPL level, games are played in 20‑minute quarters to encourage the girls to think independently on the pitch. Coaches give guidance during the short breaks, keeping in‑play instructions to a minimum so the players can make their own decisions and build confidence.
By the end of the second quarter we were already 4–0 ahead, but at Cambridge City it’s never about chasing big scorelines it’s about developing intelligent, adaptable players. Our coaches will often move players into different positions or set individual challenges, such as completing a number of passes before scoring or using their weaker foot. These tasks help build game understanding, creativity and resilience all key parts of growing strong, well‑rounded players.
We are still looking for additional players. If your child is currently without a team, or plays at a high level and you feel they would benefit from our environment, please get in touch.
