Cambridge Artworks is a vibrant community of artists, working in studios in a converted building near the centre of Cambridge. It is run as a cooperative -all artists share in the decision making and all help with the running of the studios. As well as studio spaces, the building also houses the Artspace, which can be used f

or exhibitions, workshops and taught courses. Studio artists and others run weekly courses in the evenings and daytime, as well as occasional weekend courses. Cambridge Artworks is open to the public several times a year, including the Cambridge Open Studios in July and for classes and exhibitions. Next weekend in Artspace: EVOKE, a collaboration between Susan Diamond, an American Artist from Hastings and Cambridge based Artist Jamie Ashman.
Opening Friday September 4th 6-10pm with music from Female DJ Duo ‘Short & Sweet’, all welcome
Exhibition continues  5-6th September 11-5pm each day.

With a selection of original paintings and prints inspired loosely by the idea of evoking different feelings, memories and moods. Susan and Jamie have traversed the fashion world to the genre of painting; both internationally exhibited artists have a bold and colourful style and a love for painting strong women.

This weekend, Chaos & Calm, an exhibition of paintings by Katie Clarke & Mandy Lowton
Exhibition opens Friday 21st August 12-7pm and continues 22nd -23rd August 10am-6pm each day.

Chaos & Calm brings together two artists whose works sit at opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, and finds the conversation between them irresistible.

Images feature work by Katie Clarke in acrylic, building layer upon layer of expressive colour, botanical forms and joyful abstraction. Her paintings crackle with energy. They ask you to feel something.

Chaos & Calm, an exhibition of paintings by Katie Clarke & Mandy Lowton

Chaos & Calm brings together two artists whose works sit at opposite ends of the emotional spectrum, and finds the conversation between them irresistible.

Images show work by Mandy Lowton. She works in watercolour, creating luminous, atmospheric landscapes that invite stillness and ask you to slow down.

Together, Kate and Mandy's work explores the full range of what paint can do, and what it can say about the way we move through the world. Sometimes chaotic, sometimes calm, and often both at once. Original paintings, prints and smaller works available. Something for every space and every budget.

A few years ago, we locked ourselves in a photography studio with a suitcase full of saris, passed from mother to daughter to granddaughter. What emerged were a series of images that spoke to Paul Gilroy’s ‘a memory stored in safe keeping until a means of translation can be found’. This, we believe could become the source of new possibilities for the present and future generations to express our histories and memories through inherited fashion.

Mirrored Visions is a group exhibition that celebrates the creative journey of the artist and educator Maria Di Gaetano Maria Di Gaetano and her adult art community, marking the fact that art is for everyone, and if listened to, it can become a ray of sunshine that lets us heal from the personal and global grey times we are experiencing.
Every piece in the room is a reflection, not just of technical skill and dedication, but of the diverse life experiences, stories, and perspectives our artists bring to the canvas when responding to some of these four themes: Home, Contrast, Seasonal Changes and Reflection.

For an adult learner, creating art requires a unique kind of courage. It asks us to slow down, look inward, and share our vision with the world. This exhibition is a celebration of this courage.

Attention is the Rarest and Purest Form of Generosity offers viewers a chance to turn away from distraction, temporarily exchange 24-hour mediation for meditation and consider the qualities of focus and care that underpin the creative process.

This group exhibition brings together five artists whose work across forms is connected by acts of attention that reframe the world and renew vision for viewers. Place, space and language are revealed as sites of migration, motion and transformation.
