Good evening and happy 2025 everybody! ☀️
On April 6th I will be running the WizzAir Milan Marathon in support of my partner Alessia, who has been suffering with endometriosis for 10 years, since she was 16.
Back then, she was prescribed a hormonal pill to mask the pain she was enduring and had been taking this pill up until just a few months ago, as the pain she had been suffering from worsened and a greater look into what the problem could be, took place.
It was then, that she discovered she had deep endometriosis and adenomyosis.
The decision was that it would be a smarter move to refrain from taking the previous hormonal pill which enhances levels of both oestrogen and progesterone, and instead take a new one, increasing her levels of progesterone only -- this is most suitable for those with conditions such as endometriosis.
To expand a little more on that, oestrogen directly feeds into the endometrial tissue, causing the problem to worsen, leading to potential problems such as:
- Increased lesion growth
- Inflammation
- Pain intensification
- Formations of adhesions and scars
- Ovarian cysts
- Heavy menstrual bleeding
- Fatigue
- Bowel and bladder symptoms
- Emotional and mental health challenges
- Infertility
This condition is more common than we believe, affecting around 1 in 10 women worldwide and on average, takes 8 years and 10 months from the first GP visit to get a diagnosis -- a jaw dropping statistic.

I strongly believe that this condition and its associated difficulties demands more attention and care. As Alessia and I live together, I witness her struggles day and night, yet, like most women, she puts on the bravest of faces and the biggest of smiles so as not to feed what is attempting to consume her.
She is wonderful and I am so proud of her.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we both wish you all a healthy and happy 2025 ❤️
