Five stars from Gina, and the bit we care about most is not the weight on the bar, it is the technique.

“Dwayne really pushed me to lift weights I never thought I could do but also taught me how to lift them properly as I realised that my lifting technique has been wrong.”

That is what small group training gives you. Real coaching eyes on every rep, a plan that gets heavier as you get stronger, and a handful of other women in the room making it enjoyable instead of lonely.

If you have been lifting the same weights for a year, or you are not sure your form is right, that is exactly what we fix.

Thanks Gina.

On Wednesday evening over 20 of you turned up at The Engineer's House for our summer social.

Pizza, drinks, string lights and a lot of laughing. What made it, though, was who was sitting next to who. Morning people meeting the evening crowd. Members who have trained in the same gym for months and never once been in the same session, finally putting names to faces.

We talk a lot about reps, sets and calories. They matter. But social health matters just as much. Feeling connected to people, being part of something, having a reason to walk through the door that goes beyond the workout: that is the part that keeps people going for years rather than weeks.

That is why we do these nights. The training is the reason you join. The people are the reason you stay.

Thank you to everyone who came. Next one is already being planned.

This week nearly got away from me.

Work, the kids, football, and the summer social on Wednesday night. The kind of week where training is the first thing that quietly falls off the list, and nobody would have said a word if it had.

Except this lot noticed. Asked when I was in. Saved me a spot. Made it awkward to bail.

So I got two sessions done. Not my strongest, but done. And I finished the week feeling far better than I would have if I’d talked myself out of them.

That is the bit people miss about training with a group. It isn’t the kit or the programme, it’s having people who expect you to turn up. Motivation comes and goes. Being accountable to someone else doesn’t.

If you’ve been meaning to get back to it and keep pushing it to next week, you don’t need more willpower. You need people around you who’ll ask where you were.

DM me if you want to see what a week with us looks like.

Last full week before the schools go back and the diaries fill up again. If you've been telling yourself you'll "start properly in September".

You don't need a new month or a new term, you need your next session on the calendar.

Show up this week, not someday.

Yesterday I posted that I lied about my training.

This morning, Lisa made sure it didn’t happen again. Our 7am was quiet, she was the only one booked in.

She’d watched the video, and she’d decided that if I was going to start the week right, she was coming in to make sure of it.

So what should have been her 1:1 turned into a partner workout. Me training alongside her, because she held me to it.

That’s not a coach thing. That’s a club thing. This is what people don’t expect when they join BCA.

You think you’re buying sessions. What you actually get is a room full of people who notice when you’re not there and who won’t let you talk yourself out of it. Including me.

Line drawn on Sunday. Session one done on Monday.

Thanks Lisa.

Who’s holding you accountable this week?

“I got plantar fasciitis out of the blue and couldn’t walk very well for months... I was looking for something to kickstart my health again.” 💬

When desk work and an unexpected injury left Natalie sidelined, starting over felt intimidating. But 6 months ago, she decided to give BCA a try and she hasn’t looked back.

By committing to just 2 sessions a week, Natalie has built noticeable strength in her arms, legs, and glutes, all under the watchful eye of coaches who care. 🏋️‍♀️✨

Here’s what she loves most about training with us:
✅ A relaxed, non-intimidating atmosphere
✅ Personalised guidance on form & correct weights
✅ Endless variety in workouts to keep things fresh
✅ Real, noticeable strength gains fast

Natalie’s word of advice if you’re thinking about joining? 👉 “Definitely do it, because you’ll really feel a difference and it will make a difference quite quickly.”

If you’re ready to build strength safely with a supportive community behind you, we’re ready when you are. 👥

What if...? 🤔💭

Starting something new always comes with a few "what ifs," but here is the truth behind the common worries:

"What if I’m nervous?"
It’s totally normal to feel that way! Most of our members started off in the exact same boat. The most important step is simply showing up for yourself.

"What if I’m the weakest?"
Your starting level of fitness or strength doesn't matter at all—that’s the whole point of personal training! It’s designed specifically for YOU, supporting your journey to become stronger and fitter at your own pace.

"What if I don’t know anyone?"
Neither did anyone else before they walked through our doors! Give it a couple of months and you’ll see why our community is so special. It’s not just a buzzword—everyone here is ready to support and encourage you on your health and fitness journey.

"What if it’s hard?"
Nothing worth having comes easy! But we’re all human too. Our coaches know that on some days, just turning up and walking through the door is the biggest win. It's okay to take it easy when you need to.

"What if today just isn't my day?"
There’s always tomorrow! As the saying goes, one hot day does not make a summer. Be kind to yourself and keep moving forward.

💬 "Take a leap and do it." How Emma Rebuilt Her Strength After a Stroke
When we enter our 40s, 50s, and beyond, our "why" for staying active often shifts.

It’s about longevity, quality of life, and having the vitality to show up for the people we love.

That was exactly the case for Emma, a Respiratory and CPAP Physiologist.

At mid-50s and a proud grandmother of eight, Emma joined BCA Fitness with a simple goal: she wanted to be fitter and stronger for her grandchildren.

Then, just six months into her journey, the unexpected happened. Emma suffered a stroke.

🌿 A Personalised Path Back to Strength
For many, a major health setback like a stroke can feel like the end of their fitness journey. But as a medical professional, Emma knew how vital movement was—and our coaching team immediately adapted her program to meet her where she was physically at.

Step by step, exercise by exercise, Emma rebuilt her body.

"The instructors changed the programme slightly for me from what I could physically do. I grew my strength... and with their help, I’ve achieved my goals and I’m back to what I was before I had a stroke."

👭 More Than Just a Gym
For women over 40, finding a space that feels safe, non-judgmental, and tailored to your individual body is everything. As Emma shares, the physical results are only half the story:

Tailored Coaching: Exercises adapted safely around your personal health history.

Renewed Confidence: Rebuilding trust in what your body can achieve.

Real Friendship: A warm, supportive community of women who cheer you on.

📣 Thinking About Taking That First Step?
If you’ve been on the fence, wondering if it’s too late or if your body can handle getting back into fitness, listen to Emma’s advice:

"If someone was watching this and thinking join BCA, my answer would be: do it. There's nothing to regret... You gain so much in your strength, your confidence, your friendship. Just do it, take a leap and do it."

✨ Ready to start your own chapter?
Whether you're recovering from an injury, wanting more energy for your family, or simply looking for a supportive environment tailored to women in their 40s, 50s, and beyond, we’re here for you.
