🏏 Crofty Match Report 🏏
It was another mixed weekend for the Crofty sides, with the 2nds continuing their excellent run of form while the 1sts were left feeling a little disappointed.
The 1st XI won the toss (wahoo!) and elected to bat against Redruth, but after losing a couple of early wickets the innings needed rebuilding. Thankfully the middle order dug in and gave Crofty something to work with, posting a respectable 207.
Leading the way was skipper Liam “Lamby” Mankee, who once again showed why he’s the man in charge with a superb unbeaten 82. He was well supported by Mike Schotel, whose innings-saving 49 helped steady the ship when it was most needed.
With 207 on the board, Crofty headed into the field hopeful of making early inroads. Unfortunately, Redruth had other ideas and got themselves ahead of the game before Crofty could get a breakthrough. The wickets eventually came, with Lamby picking up two of them, but by then the visitors were firmly in control and reached their target.

The 2nd XI meanwhile continued their brilliant recent form with another convincing victory away at Rosudgeon.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Crofty piled on the runs thanks to a fantastic unbeaten 83 from Alan Rule, who anchored the innings superbly. He was well backed up by contributions throughout the order, with Cam, Josh, Ben and Darryl all chipping in to help set a strong total.
The good work continued in the field, with the bowlers and fielders keeping Rosudgeon under pressure throughout their innings. Crofty restricted the hosts to 135/9, securing another excellent win.
Cam and Josh both claimed three wickets apiece, while the rest of the attack kept things tight to ensure there was never any way back into the game for Rosudgeon.

A frustrating afternoon for the 1sts, but another excellent performance from the 2nds, who continue to build momentum with every week. Both teams are back in action again this weekend and looking to keep the runs, wickets and points flowing 💚🏏
