☀️🏏 GOOOOD MORNING CROFTY 🏏☀️

After last Saturday’s rain-off and an abandoned evening league fixture in the week, it’s fair to say both sets of lads as desperate to see some cricket played today!

The sun is shining, and the forecast is looking promising, and both teams will be hoping to make up for lost time with a full afternoon of runs, wickets, and points.

The 1st XI travel to Truro Cricket Club 3rds, looking to putin a strong performance and build some momentum. Meanwhile the 2nds XI are home to host Praze Cricket Club, and are looking to continue their excellent recent run of form and keep the winning streak alive.

If you’re looking for somewhere to enjoy the sunshine, why not come down and support your local club? A cold drink, a bit of cricket, and hopefully a couple of Crofty wins sounds like a pretty good Saturday to us 🍻💚

Good luck lads!!

🏏 Team Sheets 🏏

Another weekend rolls around and both Crofty sides are back in action, with the 1st XI hosting Mullion 2nds and the 2nd XI making the trip to take on Porthleven.

After a mixed bag of results last weekend, both teams will be looking to put in strong performances and pick up some valuable points. There’s plenty of confidence in the camp, plenty of enthusiasm, and hopefully plenty of cricket too.

The only thing standing in the way appears to be the Cornish weather, which is once again threatening to make itself the main character. We’ll be keeping everything crossed that the rain stays away and both games get a full day’s play🤞🏻

Good luck lads!! Let’s hope for runs, wickets, catches, and most importantly, enough overs to justify opening the scorebook! 💚

🏏 Crofty Match Report 🏏

It was another mixed weekend for the Crofty sides, with the 2nds continuing their excellent run of form while the 1sts were left feeling a little disappointed.

The 1st XI won the toss (wahoo!) and elected to bat against Redruth, but after losing a couple of early wickets the innings needed rebuilding. Thankfully the middle order dug in and gave Crofty something to work with, posting a respectable 207.

Leading the way was skipper Liam “Lamby” Mankee, who once again showed why he’s the man in charge with a superb unbeaten 82. He was well supported by Mike Schotel, whose innings-saving 49 helped steady the ship when it was most needed.

With 207 on the board, Crofty headed into the field hopeful of making early inroads. Unfortunately, Redruth had other ideas and got themselves ahead of the game before Crofty could get a breakthrough. The wickets eventually came, with Lamby picking up two of them, but by then the visitors were firmly in control and reached their target.

The 2nd XI meanwhile continued their brilliant recent form with another convincing victory away at Rosudgeon.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Crofty piled on the runs thanks to a fantastic unbeaten 83 from Alan Rule, who anchored the innings superbly. He was well backed up by contributions throughout the order, with Cam, Josh, Ben and Darryl all chipping in to help set a strong total.

The good work continued in the field, with the bowlers and fielders keeping Rosudgeon under pressure throughout their innings. Crofty restricted the hosts to 135/9, securing another excellent win.

Cam and Josh both claimed three wickets apiece, while the rest of the attack kept things tight to ensure there was never any way back into the game for Rosudgeon.

A frustrating afternoon for the 1sts, but another excellent performance from the 2nds, who continue to build momentum with every week. Both teams are back in action again this weekend and looking to keep the runs, wickets and points flowing 💚🏏

🏏☀️ It’s Crofty cricket day! ☀️🏏

The sun is shining and both sides are back in action looking to build on last week’s performances.

The 1st XI host Redruth 3rds this afternoon and we can’t help but feel that first win of the season is very close, the signs are there, the performances are improving, and hopefully there will be no jackhammers interrupting proceedings this time either 🔨😅

Meanwhile, the 2nds travel to Rosudgeon 2nds, full of confidence after last weeks excellent victory. With back-to-back wins, they’ll be looking to keep the momentum rolling and continue their strong start to the season.

It’s set to be a cracking day for cricket, so if you’re looking for somewhere to spend your Saturday afternoon, get down and support the lads. Runs, wickets, sunshine and hopefully a couple of Crofty victories to round off the day nicely 🍻

Let’s go lads!! 💚💪🏼

🏏 Crofty Match Report 🏏

The sun was shining once again for another Saturday of cricket, although it turned out to be a mixed day for the Crofty sides.

The 1st XI were put into bat after losing the toss, but unfortunately never really managed to get going, which has been a bit of a theme this season so far. Despite battling away, the boys were bowled out for 85, with Mike Schotel top scoring with 16 not out.

Crofty then came firing out with the ball and put Penryn St Gluvias under some early pressure. Andrew Martin led the way with an excellent spell of 3/34, whilst Lamby chipped in with a wicket of his own.

Unfortunately, 85 was never quite enough to defend and Penryn St Gluvias managed to reach the target, meaning it was an earlier finish than the lads would’ve hoped for…although the bar probably appreciated the extra custom 🍺

The 2nd XI, however, continued their strong run of form with another brilliant win over Helston 4ths. After winning the toss and electing to field in the heat , the boys put on a strong performance with the ball to bowl Helston out for 190.

Alan Rule was the standout performer with superb figures of 6/36, backed up brilliantly by Carl Band who picked up 3/34.

In reply, Crofty made light work of the chase, comfortably knocking off the runs for the loss of just 3 wickets. Nicky Richards continued his fine form with 53, while Ben Sinkins anchored the innings superbly with 69 👀 not out to guide the team home.

🏏 It’s cricket Saturday! 🏏

The 1st XI travel to take on Penryn St Gluvias Cricket CC, while the 2nd XI are home hosting to Helston Cricket Club 4ths XI.

The weather finally looks decent and both sides are feeling energised and looking forward to a big day of cricket, and maybe a few beers or two after in the sun ☀️

Today is also extra special as it’s a double celebration for the club, with Matthew Sara and team scorer Amanda Everitt both celebrating today 🥳 Matt will no doubt be hoping for plenty of runs, while Amanda will be doing the very important job of making sure the scorebook looks far more organised than most of the cricket being played in front of her 😉 Happy Birthday both!!!

So if you’re looking for a way to start your bank holiday weekend properly, why not pop by and enjoy a bit of cricket in the sun with a cold drink in hand 🍻

Best of luck lads!! 💚

🏏 It’s cricket Saturday!

The 1st XI are at home hosting Troon Cricket Club, while the 2nd XI make the trip to take on Gulval CC 2nds this afternoon.

After a few days of checking weather apps every 15 minutes and staring hopefully at the sky, we’re keeping everything crossed that both sides get a game in today 🤞🏻🌧️

Best of luck to both teams! 💚

🚨BREAKING NEWS FROM CROFTY🚨

This is a pretty special moment for us…Crofty Holman CC officially has a brand new electronic scoreboard! 💚

It’s something the club has wished for a long time and a real reflection of the positive steps happening on and off the field. From where the club was a few years ago to where it’s heading now, this feels like a huge milestone!

Most importantly, this simply would not have been possible without the incredible support of our sponsor, Kath’s Plaice. Their generosity and backing of the club has turned something we’ve spoken about for years into a reality, and we can’t put into words how hugely grateful we are for the support.

If you haven’t already paid them a visit, Kath’s Plaice is based at 28-30 Church Street, Camborne - serving what is arguably the best fish & chips in town (we might be slightly biased!). Traditional fish & chips cooked in beef dripping and wrapped in paper properly, just as it should be 🍟🐟

Whether it’s after cricket, after work, or after watching a classic Crofty collapse, make sure you support a brilliant local business that continues to support local sport.
