Another week of the 2026 Elite Amateur Golf League delivered some outstanding matches across the country, with clubs continuing to battle for valuable points in the group stages.

Southwick Park Golf Club recorded an impressive 5-0 away victory over Golf At Goodwood before backing it up with a 3-2 win over Worthing Golf Club . Langley Park Golf Club edged out Purley Downs Golf Club , while West Byfleet Golf Club produced a commanding 5-0 win away at The Drift Golf Club .

Basingstoke Golf Club and Alresford Golf Club shared the points in a hard-fought 2.5-2.5 draw, before Hindhead Golf Club secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Alresford Golf Club . Burhill Golf Club claimed a convincing 4-1 win against Harleyford Golf Club , while Burnham Beeches Golf Club overcame Bearwood Lakes Golf Club 3.5-1.5.

Elsewhere, Top Meadow Golf Club delivered a flawless 5-0 victory over Thetford Golf Club , Boyce Hill Golf Club recorded a 4-1 win against Royal Wi******er Golf Club and John O’Gaunt Golf Club earned a hard-fought 3-2 away victory over Aspley Guise Golf Club .

Captained by Darren Wright , Rowlands Castle Golf Club produced one of the most memorable victories in Elite Amateur Golf Group history at the 2021 League Final held at Golf at The Grove . Although Wright was unavailable to play in the final, the team he had led throughout the campaign rose to the occasion.

After five fiercely contested matches over 18 holes, Rowlands Castle and Stoneham Golf Club could not be separated, sending the championship to a singles playoff. As the light began to fade and the contest was played in near-darkness, the tension couldn’t have been any higher.

The playoff stretched to three extra holes, with both players birdieing the 1st hole of The Grove twice to keep the contest alive. It was on the third extra hole that Tom Robson finally secured the winning putt and the league title for Rowlands Castle, bringing an unforgettable final to a fitting conclusion.

A remarkable final, two outstanding teams, and a finish that remains one of the most memorable moments in EAGG history.

The stage is set.

The draw for the 2026 EAGG Singles Scratch Matchplay Championship is now live.

A strong field of amateur golfers will go head-to-head over the coming months as they compete for one of EAGG’s premier titles. With every match played over 18 holes, there’s little room for error as the journey to the final begins.

The 2019 season saw emerge as league champions, adding their name to the growing list of clubs to have lifted the trophy.

With strong performances throughout the campaign, Sutton Green secured the title in a year that also introduced the League’s Pink Jackets. Awarded to the league winners, it has since become a key part of the league’s identity, with Sutton Green becoming the first champions to receive it.

A lot has changed since 2019, with the league continuing to expand and more clubs joining the competition each year. But Sutton Green’s title-winning season remains an important chapter in the league’s history.

As the race for the 2026 Finals Weekend gathers pace, this year’s teams will be looking to follow in the footsteps of past champions and create their own memorable season.
