The bank holiday weekend saw Calne Divers come together for the annual dive and camping trip.

A couple of shore dives and two days of excellent boat dives with Dave on Waverider made for a great bank holiday weekend!

Sunday saw 6 of our divers take advantage of the beautiful weather and head to Swanage to get in a couple of boat dives, dropping in at the Valentine Tanks and the Fleur De Lys.

They saw lots of wildlife on both dives and as the tide picked up they drifted off the Fleur to pick up some scallops! Here’s some pictures from the day…

With the weekend fading into the distance and Christmas drawing ever closer, a few of Santa’s apprentices thought it would be a good idea to see if there suits still fitted whilst raising money for the RNLI. Two groups of divers headed off in different directions the first heading off for a days diving upon the Jurassic aqua sports boat sailing out of Portland, the other group headed to Vobster Quay for the annual Santa pilgrimage both groups reported excellent dives.

The RNLI are an amazing charity that we all hope to never need, so please if you have any spare change donate it to the RNLI to assist them with being able to help save lives at sea.

Yesterday saw a few of our intrepid crew head off to the Dorset coast. First dive of the day was on the inventor and the second dive of the day was a drift dive alongside Durdle door, where a bumper haul of scallops was brought back aboard. Viz wasn’t the greatest but the sun and flat calm seas made the days diving exceptional.

With the weather showing signs of niceness a few of the crew decided a days diving at Portland was in order. Nowhere seemed a better choice than Chesil beach, 6 of our divers entered the water which could only be described as a mill pond. Upon there return to the shore reports where coming in that the vis was a good 5-6m, and that the water temperature was a very enjoyable 14 degrees.

With the sun shining and the recent easing on lockdown regulations a group of our divers decided a visit to Cromhall Diving was in order, the viz was reported to be 6-7m with the water temp being a balmy 8 degrees. A good time was had by all. Social distancing and all current covid regulations were adhered to throughout the day.

Club Activity Update
This will most likely be obvious but in the interest of clarity, the club will not be meeting during this time. The Leisure centre is closed along with the dive centres. Feel free to keep in touch with our online presence and we will be back together and in the water as soon as humanly possible.

In the meantime, I am about to see if my PDC registers the depth of my bath! Stay Safe Everyone!!
